Ordrup Library seeks two new colleagues At Ordrup Library we want to create reading joy, curiosity and communities that give literature an active place in people’s lives. Therefore we are seeking two new colleagues who can translate strong professional expertise into present-focused communication, relevant activities and good encounters with the library’s users.

We are looking for a children's librarian/children’s culture presenter who can open literature and culture for children and young people, and an adult librarian/adult culture presenter who can engage young people and adults through literature dissemination, events and reading communities. Both positions are based at Ordrup Library and offer a varied daily life where you have the opportunity to develop your area of expertise and contribute to daily operations in close collaboration with dedicated colleagues.

Children's librarian/children’s culture presenter

Do you want to strengthen the reading culture and create library experiences that awaken children’s and youths’ curiosity and desire to read?

You will have a central role in the operation and development of the children’s area. Together with your colleagues you create present-focused activities based on children’s and youths’ interests and in the local community. You collaborate with local schools and high schools on literary activities and build on the strong collaborations that are already established.

At the same time you will have the opportunity to develop new reading communities and formats that engage children and young people.

We place particular emphasis on having documented experience with culture and library services for children, as well as an inclusive and inspiring children’s professional approach.

Adult librarian/adult culture presenter

Do you want to bring literature into play and create activities and communities that engage young people and adults in the local area?

You will have a central role in the operation and development of the library’s offerings for adults. You create relevant literature dissemination and activities for a target group that both uses and actively contributes to the neighborhood’s cultural offerings and communities. Together with colleagues in the children’s area you also develop activities for the area’s youths, including high school students, and build on existing collaborations.

At the same time you will have the opportunity to develop new reading communities and event formats for youths and adults.

We place particular emphasis on having documented experience with culture and library work and the ability to create inspiring literature dissemination targeted at youths and adults.

Common for both positions

• have experience with collaboration with volunteers, shift coordination or similar
• have a relevant cultural or library science background
• have knowledge of library operations and daily material handling

As part of daily work you contribute to smooth and professional operation of Ordrup Library. Tasks include, among others, material handling, exhibitions, duty coverage and running events.

Both positions entail approximately four weekly library shifts, including closing duty, as well as Saturday shifts every third week. Your primary workplace is Ordrup Library, but there may also be tasks at other libraries in Gentofte Municipality.

About Ordrup Library and Gentofte Libraries

Ordrup Library is located on top of Ordrup Multihal and close to Ordrup School, Ordrup Gymnasium and Ordrup Park. The library was designed by architect Søren Robert Lund, inaugurated in 2008 and functions as a multifunctional cultural center.

Ordrup Library is one of Gentofte Municipality’s six libraries. All function as cultural houses with room for immersion, citizen-driven activities, communities and cultural experiences. The libraries solve tasks across the municipality’s cultural sector and contribute to national tasks through the Central Library function for the Capital Region of Denmark.

In Gentofte Municipality we work to ensure that children and young people meet culture as a natural part of their formation, communities and everyday life. This happens in close collaboration between the cultural sector, early childhood education, schools, parents and local cultural actors.

We also work closely with the municipality’s many active volunteers. This requires that you meet collaboration with curiosity and trust and contribute to the volunteers’ entrepreneurial spirit being able to unfold.

Salary and terms of employment

The positions are full-time (with the possibility of part-time), and employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Salary is negotiated with DM (Danish Magister Association), and with 1½ years of seniority the starting salary is at step 04 corresponding to a monthly salary of DKK 32,573.42, 37 hours, excluding pension.

Employment requires a satisfactory child certificate and public criminal record. The positions are desired to be filled from 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
