About the job

Do you want relevant job experience and a unique opportunity to work closely with the decisions and decision-makers in a large government agency? Then you could be our new student in the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.

One of our capable students has finished their education, and we are therefore looking for a new student for Ministerial service in our Directorate Secretariat.

The students in the Directorate Secretariat perform important tasks, and they are therefore central to ensuring that our work functions and that cases are resolved correctly. As a student with us you will gain insight, responsibility and valuable experience in an exciting and societally relevant sector. You will get to know the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's organization and policy areas, just as you will gain a good understanding of both the political decision-making process and how the agency’s work operates.

You will have an exciting and at times busy everyday life in a professional, engaged and cooperative organization. There can be pressure, but the mood is high and we help each other. It is important for us that there is room for informal sparring and a good chat with colleagues at the coffee machine.

About the position

You will become part of the agency's Directorate Secretariat, where we are four ACs, three secretaries and four students who together ensure efficient and competent servicing and advising of our board. We are the link between the agency's many units, the management and the ministry. You will also gain a unique insight into the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's many exciting professional areas – from animal health and food safety to dietary guidelines. At the same time you will have the opportunity to follow current political issues and gain insight into how they align with the agency's work.

As a student you will play a central role in the daily coordination of cases that the agency handles in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, including both internal contact and coordination across the entire agency and externally to the ministry. It is the students who receive orders and other cases to run smoothly between the ministry and the technical departments, when the minister, for example, receives questions from the Parliament, and it is therefore often them that the departments go to first with questions.

You will join a team of four student assistants, where flexibility is important to us. We place great emphasis on a strong student collegiality, where collaboration and professional sparring are a natural part of everyday life. Since ministerial service must be staffed every weekday in the hours 8:30-16:30, we expect the student team to jointly cover shifts on all five weekdays.

Your main tasks

  • Keep a sharp eye on incoming cases and assess which offices should be involved. One of your main tasks is to ensure that cases of both urgent and non-urgent character end up in the right place in the organization.
  • Prepare an overview/statistics of the agency's ministerial service, i.e. which cases come in, how fast we are at solving them, etc. We must report on this, so you provide important information for the unit and the management.
  • Contribute to creating presentations when colleagues or the management team need to give internal or external presentations.
  • Contribute to coordinating our participation in the EU's Education Academy “Better Training for Safer Food,” which among other things includes coordination between the agency and the EU.
  • Ongoing ad hoc tasks, ranging from information gathering to answering inquiries and light case processing, which makes the days never the same.
  • Coordination of weekly team meetings.

About you

To be considered for the position, it is a prerequisite that you

  • Are enrolled in a relevant long higher education in social sciences or natural sciences
  • Have at least 1.5 years left in your studies
  • Have strong analytical skills, are thorough in your task solving and reliable
  • Can express yourself clearly and professionally in Danish, both spoken and written

As a student assistant with us

  • Take responsibility for your own tasks and see them through
  • Work independently and in a structured way with attention to detail and a strong sense of order
  • Can keep an overview of cases in a busy day and are able to prioritize tasks on your own
  • Know Excel and have an appetite for ongoing statistics
  • Are proactive and focused on results and quality in your work
  • Are open, approachable and good at collaborating
  • Are ready to step in and help your colleagues with both small and large tasks

It is advantageous, but not a requirement, if you have experience from another politically governed organization. The most important thing is that you are interested in the political aspect and the professional work that the agency does – which spans a wide range.

When should you start

We need you from December 1, 2026 as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary and employment

The employment takes place according to the applicable organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff between the Ministry of Finance and HK State.

Your weekly working hours are, as a rule, 15 hours per week distributed over two to three days after closer agreement in coordination with the other students and with the workplace in Glostrup.

You will of course have the opportunity for time off during exam periods.

Your application

We look forward to receiving your application attached CV and documentation of education/passed exams online in our recruitment system no later than November 2, 2026.
