About the job

In the Psychiatric Centre Sct. Hans’ historic, scenic surroundings is the “view” not only Roskilde Fjord – it is also the name of our state-of-the-art forensic psychiatry.

We reopened as the ward leadership team for our intensive forensic psychiatric ward A2 in the spring of 2025, and the ward is now in full operation.

Now we need you, who sees development opportunities and potential in being part of a newer, well-functioning ward, motivated by the complexity of forensic psychiatric patient pathways, and who thrives with the rehabilitative and crime-prevention work with patients.

About the ward

The ward opened in the spring of 2025, and we have room for 16 patients – for that, we have assembled a broad interdisciplinary staff group that collaborates with ward management, the clinical nurse specialist, the ward’s psychologist and social worker.

The ward is led by Chief Nursing Officer Christina Plambøck Thomsen and Ward Director Dr. Louise Turgut, who have several years of experience as a duo on intensive wards.

Our vision for the ward is

We want a community where it is safe to share professional reflections and disagreements, and where the discussions contribute to new shared perspectives and patient care at a high level.

A cornerstone for us in our shared work environment is physical safety, and therefore we place great emphasis on training, supervision and practice in prevention and handling of conflicts.

Your professional reflections are important for the individual patient pathways

We need you who sees value in close collaboration with both patients and relatives, colleagues and leaders. As a staff group we focus on developing the ward and together create the framework for a daily life with individually tailored activities for the individual.

Patients are on average admitted for 4-5 years, and the primary purpose of admission is to prevent new criminal activity. A large part of care and treatment will therefore be based on a rehabilitative approach, where we work recovery-oriented with maximum patient involvement. It includes tools such as cognitive environmental therapy, as well as Motivational Interviewing.

Your tasks

As a social educator on ward A2 your daily tasks will span broadly – you are part of the care staff, which means you are a contact person and co-responsible for selected patient pathways. You become the contact person for approx. 2-4 patients.

Nursing includes, among other things, the following

  • Observe and document symptoms.
  • Develop individual plans, including nursing and activities.
  • Prepare the patient for the treatment plan meeting in the team.
  • Support the patient in daily tasks.
  • Support the patient in strategies for abstinence.
  • Support the patient in regulating arousal.
  • Focus on non-pharmacological measures when the patient’s condition worsens.
  • Help the patient increase knowledge of their own reaction patterns and work with the patient to use and test coping strategies.

What is it like to be a social pedagogue with us?

  • You have the opportunity to specialise.

We provide the forensic-psychiatric expert function in the Region of Zealand and receive patients where the mental illness and the legal intervention are the backdrop for complex patient pathways and require special expertise.

  • We maintain a high professional level.

And good opportunities for ongoing competence development and continuing education in forensic psychiatry, recovery, cognitive behavioral therapy, the motivational interview and specialized training in psychiatric nursing.

  • You have time to be a beginner.

And in the reopening of A2 the plan is a shared introduction and training for the entire group, including five professional introductory days, where you are introduced to forensic psychiatry, treatment strategy, our tools and much more. In addition, as a new entrant to psychiatry you will be enrolled in the courses “Good Start in Psychiatry” and conflict management.

  • You are never alone!

We help and spar with each other. In addition to your team of skilled colleagues, the clinical nurse specialist and deputy ward manager are ready to teach and ensure you receive a solid onboarding in daily clinical practice. The on-duty evening and night nurse ensures there is professional sparring to draw on.

Who are you?

  • You are a trained pedagogue and focus on the individual’s resources and motivation.
  • You see opportunities in the interdisciplinary collaboration on complex patient pathways.
  • You are good at communicating and show respect and presence towards patients, your colleagues and partners.
  • You have psychiatric experience.

Salary and employment terms

Start on 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

You are employed under the collective agreement for social-pedagogical staff at residential institutions with pay placement as a social pedagogue.

You are employed in mixed shifts, and there will be weekend work every other weekend.

The 24-hour ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules in the current working time agreement/working time regulations in the collective agreement.

Have we sparked your interest?

If you are curious about working in psychiatry, or have questions about the position and the workplace, you are more than welcome to contact Chief Nurse Christina Plambøck Thomsen at tel.: 25 13 34 00 or email: [email protected].

Otherwise we look forward to getting to know you better – so please send us a motivated application, your education certificate and a CV via the link as soon as possible.
