About Hesselagergård and our professional ambitions

Hesselagergård is a social-pedagogical children's and youth home in the scenic town of Strib north of Middelfart. We offer stays for children and youths between 10 and 18 years, with the possibility for aftercare (or §107) up to 22 years. We are in an exciting development phase where we sharpen our professional profile and the shared culture. We are therefore looking for an engaged pedagogue who will help drive that development.

The target group and your core task

Our youths often have significant neglect, attachment disorders and diagnoses such as ADHD in their background. Their history means they often use maladaptive coping strategies, including outwardly reactive behavior and complex socially boundary-crossing behavior.

You will become an important anchor in the youths' lives. Your task is to be the credible adult who maintains calm and overview when everyday life is intense, and the youths are in affect. We do not punish behavior, but work professionally and with curiosity to understand the intention behind it.

Our methods in practice (From theory to everyday life)

We do not only work with methods on paper. You will become part of a daily life where we actively use:

• Mentalization & Relational pedagogy: We always bear responsibility for the relationship. Even though the youths in unease try to push us away, we proactively step forward as a stable and safe base.
• KAT-kit: It can help the youths put words and "temperature" on difficult feelings, without the conversation becoming confrontational.
• Social skills training: We practice boundary setting and reading of social signals directly in the everyday small moments – always rooted in Low Arousal.

We expect that you

• Are a trained pedagogue (or have relevant experience and are willing to begin further education within two years).
• Dare to turn down the "adult noise". You know that true presence sometimes means you just stand still, listen and create a demand-free space for a young person in affect.
• Are clear, robust and able to maintain calm and overview in tense situations.
• Hold a driving license
• Are willing to participate in rotating shifts (overnight, evening and weekend shifts).
