About the job

AutismeCenter Skive, dept. of the residential facility Bilstrupvej 27 seeks a pedagogue for a permanent position.

Due to organizational changes in several of our houses, we are seeking a pedagogue for a permanent position at AutismeCenter Skive.

About the workplace

AutismeCenter Skive is the municipality of Skive's center for interventions for adults with autism, and includes among other things daily living support, residential care and employment and activity services for people with autism.

The position is based at Bilstrupvej 27 A-E, which is a 24/7 residential facility under SEL §85/ABL §105 and §108. The facility consists of five houses, with space for a total of 39 residents.

The target group is people with autism spectrum disorders, and there can be physical and psychiatric comorbid conditions, as well as a varying degree of a lower developmental age than biological age.

The staff group is interdisciplinary and includes, among others, pedagogues, social and health care assistants, occupational therapists, pedagogical assistants and a music therapist.

The workplace is characterized by an informal tone of communication, where we get along well together.

The Bilstrupvej facility is relatively new and is a consolidation of several offers, and we are well underway in building common cultures and work routines to create a strong shared VI (us).

We began an internal restructuring on 1 October, moving from four to five houses and expanding with four places. We are in the process of admitting new residents, and you will become part of that process.

Extensive competency development has been initiated, and we are therefore implementing several professional tools and methods, in which you will be an active participant.

The advertised position is distributed across all the houses. You can expect to be primarily attached to one house with a combined assignment to another house. Staff in House A also cover House E as their primary assignment.

About the expectations

The core task for the social department in Skive Municipality is

”In interaction with the citizen, we create opportunities for development, well-being and mastery of one’s own life”

You are therefore expected, together with your colleagues, to collaborate with residents, relatives, social workers and other relevant parties to create a life with well-being and with a focus on mastery and development for the individual resident. We focus on the citizens’ hopes and dreams, and we want to work recovery-oriented to ensure that support and interventions are planned meaningfully with a focus on well-being and development with the citizen’s voice at the center.

As department leaders we expect everyone to go to work with a focus on professionalism, life mastery, self-determination, collaboration and reflection, just as we expect that we all are accommodating of the mistakes we make along the way. We regard mistakes as a healthy part of a learning process, which is why we should use every opportunity to reflect on and learn from the mistakes we make.

It requires a focus on psychological safety in the workplace, which we must always strive to maintain and develop in collaboration. Psychological safety is a shared responsibility between management, employees and union representatives, and you must therefore be willing to actively participate in maintaining and further developing psychological safety.

We expect everyone to pull their weight in the workplace – it is a shared responsibility to reach our goals – both in relation to the direct work with the core task, but also to collegial collaboration and collaboration with relatives and partners.

We therefore set requirements for both the desire and ability to collaborate and take responsibility, and although we understand that individuals may have more or less capacity at times, we expect that you do not ‘clock out’ and thereby relinquish the control to others.

We work from values such as collaboration, integrity, development and equality—values you can expect to encounter in your collaboration with colleagues and management, and we expect that you can see yourself embodying the same values in your collaboration with us and with the residents.

About the positions and monofield expectations

In daily life, the majority of the work consists of supporting residents in the facility and ensuring well-being and development. We work based on the residents’ §141 action plans with goals, sub-goals and actions to ensure that we achieve the results set. The written work must be prioritized as an equally important part of the job as the time spent with residents.

We also focus on giving you the opportunity to use and develop your monofield competencies in daily work.

We work based on SMART goals, and we continuously work to ensure resident participation in goal formulation so that we ensure the resident’s voice is heard and forms the basis for our work.

There is a big difference in the support needs of residents, which naturally means that there is variation in what your day will consist of. The scope of support ranges from personal care to cognitive development conversations.

The majority of residents participate in activity or employment programs on weekdays, but they need support for ordinary daily tasks when they return home. At the same time, there may be support for participation in activities in and outside the house, support for personal care, skills training, exercise, and close and social interactions.

Regardless of professional group, all employees participate in daily tasks, activities and care with residents as well as in the practical work in the house.

All pedagogues are expected to be able to organize the pedagogical effort around the residents, including developing support systems, working on reducing externally directed aggressive and self-harming behavior through increased well-being.

It is a major advantage for applicants to have knowledge of methods such as KRAP, La2/La2u, ASK, Neuropedagogics, TEACCH and similar methods.

About the working hours

The working hours rotate between day, evening and weekend work. Since most residents participate in activity programs during weekdays, there are a majority of shifts in the evening hours.

Shifts can start as early as 06:00 and end as late as 22:00.

Shifts are up to 12 hours, but vary a lot.

We work from work plans that are comparable, which means we try to distribute shifts evenly among colleagues. There may be differences from house to house in meeting times depending on the needs of the individual house.

You can expect on average 1 day shift and 3 evening shifts per week, as well as every 3rd weekend when employed full-time.
