About the job
Do you want to help create a meaningful and autonomous life for adults with developmental disabilities?
Here at Bofællesskabet Skødstrup house 1-3 we are looking for an engaged and professionally strong pedagogue who wants to make a difference in the citizens' daily lives. If you are passionate about relationship work, self-determination, mastering life, and interdisciplinary collaboration, this could be your next workplace.
About the position
We are seeking a trained pedagogue for a permanent position of 37 hours per week with a start no later than 01.01.2027.
The working hours consist of a mix of day and evening shifts and work every third weekend. Our workplace is open 365 days a year.
We are flexible regarding shift planning, including if you use the Light Rail (Letbanen), which stops just 300 metres from the residence.
You will become part of our interdisciplinary staff group, where high professionalism, integrity and collaboration are fundamental values.
About Bofællesskabet Skødstrup house 1-3
Bofællesskabet Skødstrup is located at Tronkærgårdsvej 102, 8541 Skødstrup. The collective housing community is surrounded by ordinary single-family houses, townhouses and scenic surroundings – including a view over the Aarhus Bay.
Bofællesskabet Skødstrup is a 24/7 service for adults over 18 years with developmental disabilities and permanently reduced physical and mental functional abilities.
We consist of three houses with a total of 25 residents aged 24-77.
Skødstrup Bofællesskab is established in accordance with the Danish Housing Act § 105, subsection 2. Social-pedagogical support and care are provided under § 85 of the Social Services Act. Help with personal care and cleaning is provided after individual assessment under § 83 of the Social Services Act.
Our professional basis
In Bofællesskabet Skødstrup we work purposefully to strengthen citizens' learning and life mastery, so that each individual has the best possibilities to master their own life.
Pedagogical support is tailored to each individual citizen, and ongoing follow-up meetings of the § 141 action plan are held with the citizen, possibly family and authorities. We set goals together with the citizens based on their wishes, dreams and individual resources.
In Bofællesskabet Skødstrup we work with KRAP (Cognitive, Resource-focused and Appreciative Pedagogy) as our primary pedagogical method. This means that we meet the citizens with an appreciative approach and start from their resources, desires and opportunities rather than limitations. We work systematically to create an understanding of the individual citizen's thoughts, feelings and actions, so we can together develop strategies that strengthen well-being, self-determination and life mastery.
KRAP supports our ambition to explore and be open and curious when we assess the right development opportunities for all citizens.
We work from a dialectical understanding of disability and view disability as a dynamic factor that expresses a mismatch between the individual's prerequisites and the arrangement of the surrounding environment. All human development is seen in interaction with the surroundings and lasts a lifetime.
In a residence community for citizens with lifelong developmental disabilities we work daily in the tension between supporting the citizens' right to self- and shared decision-making and at the same time providing the necessary care, support and protection. Citizens must have the opportunity to make their own choices and live a life on their own terms, but some situations may entail risk to well-being, health or safety, which calls for professional considerations and responsible action from staff.
The dilemma is central, because both self-determination and care are fundamental values in the social-pedagogical effort. If we take on too much responsibility, we can limit citizens' independence, learning and sense of dignity. Conversely, too little support may mean that citizens do not receive the help they need in a vulnerable life. Therefore it requires ongoing professional reflections, dialogue with the citizen and individual assessments, so we find the right balance between respecting the individual's wishes and responsibility for well-being, development and quality of life.
If you can see yourself in this approach, we look forward to hearing from you.
Your primary base will be House 2
The position is primarily linked to House 2, where you will have your contact person responsibilities, but you will also have work days in House 1.
In Bofællesskabet Skødstrup house 1-3 we work together to solve the core task. Practically, if a shift due to illness cannot be covered, we help each other across all three houses. Providing neighborly help is part of our training of all employees, so you feel secure in the task.
In House 2, nine citizens aged 31-41 live in their own apartments around a shared kitchen and living area. The apartments are arranged with a living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom, totaling about 35 m2.
The citizens have a strong sense of community and share many experiences together.
They especially enjoy
- Concerts and festivals
- Activities and experiences
- Cozy moments on the sofa
- Trips and excursions
- Humor and shared laughter
- The annual camping trip
- Alone- or couple-time in the apartment
- Sleeping in late
- Trips with § 97 accompaniment or with family
The residents are all physically mobile and go to various day services in Aarhus Municipality and are out of the house every weekday.
The citizens place a high value on an independent life and receive help to achieve it through support and guidance.
You should expect light support for personal care to varying degrees, support for ADL tasks as well as health-care tasks (medication, etc.) as part of daily life in Skødstrup. But the task also includes, for example, supporting two residents who have fallen out with each other. For a couple who talks past one another. For a resident who has become upset with the family. To motivate healthy food choices – when needed. And much more.
All residents need support to structure daily life and in various ways are guided toward as much self-determination, increased well-being and as high a quality of life as possible.
The staff in House 2 are looking for a colleague who
- Is a trained pedagogue.
- Has extensive experience with the target group.
- Is passionate about citizens' right to self- and co-determination.
- Has an eye for the balance between self-determination and duty of care.

- Has experience with documenting pedagogical interventions.

- Is stable, responsible and a good team player.
