About the job

Do you have political acumen, a sharp pen, and are you motivated by being close to central decisions? Do you want to help set the direction for a new consolidated ministerial and leadership secretariat in a department with high pace and many political agendas? Then take a look here.

About the Secretariat for Minister, Leadership and Communication

The Ministerial and Leadership Secretariat, together with Press and Communications, forms the staff around the minister. The units work closely together and essentially include the daily support of the minister and the secretary-general, management of the political season, as well as ongoing and proactive press and communication.

Your daily life with us

You will become the head of office for a new consolidated Minister- and Leadership Secretariat, which must both handle the daily operations around the minister and keep a long-term perspective to ensure strategic planning of the political processes. In this way, the Minister- and Leadership Secretariat is the minister's and secretary-general's closest pre-office and a guarantee that political ambitions are translated into tasks in the organization to deliver the desired results.

An important function of the Secretariat is thus to be a link between the minister, secretary-general and the organization and to uphold a good culture characterized by collaboration, integrity and solid civil service virtues. You will lead 12 skilled and engaged employees, including ministerial secretaries and DC-secretary, secretary to the minister and AC staff. And you will work closely with both the minister, secretary-general and a special adviser.

Your primary tasks

  • Executive support to the minister, secretary-general, management and leadership
  • Support to the minister and secretary-general
  • Strategic planning and follow-up

Your leadership style

As head of office you set direction and deliver results in collaboration with the rest of the department. You master overview while having a sense for the detail. Political acumen and impact are part of the role description, and should be exercised with composure and calm. You are both result-oriented and able to manage risk, just as you can prioritise and make decisions in daily life.

In relation to the employees you work in a trust-based manner and are able to develop them. You place people management high and are able to exercise visible and credible leadership. Furthermore you have good collaboration skills and achieve results through dialogue.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

We expect you to have a relevant academic degree, e.g. cand.scient.pol, cand.scient.soc or similar, and experience from a ministry or central agency as well as broad and in-depth knowledge of the core tasks and areas of work of the Ministry of Health and Church Affairs.

You will become head of a secretariat with a central role in the organization, and you must therefore be able to juggle many balls and at the same time ensure high quality and durable solutions.

We offer

You will come very close to both the minister and the secretary-general, where the tasks are often varied and the workdays never the same. You will also gain a unique insight into the government's ambitions and political machinery, including the many political priorities in the health and church area.

The everyday life with us is characterized by trust and collaboration across the department, and we place a very high value on collegiality and well-being. Even though the pace is fast, and there is sometimes busy, humor and team spirit make the everyday life both fun and exciting.
