About the job

Kalundborg Refinery

Location: Kalundborg / Denmark

Application deadline: 2026-10-30

Publication date: 2026-10-09

Reference no.: DK-11197

Do you want to work with high voltage on an industrial site that is part of Denmark's critical energy infrastructure?

The position Kalundborg Refinery is seeking an electrical engineer for a technical environment with its own 10 kV distribution, about 20 substations, more than 1,400 electric motors as well as 3 kV, 690 V and 400 V installations, UPS and emergency power systems. The refinery is critical infrastructure in the Danish energy supply, and the electrical area plays a central role in ensuring safe and stable operation around the clock.

Kalundborg Refinery is Denmark's largest refinery and part of Denmark's critical energy infrastructure. The refinery employs about 400 employees and is part of the international Klesch Group.

You will be part of Electrical & Instrumental Engineering under Maintenance. Here eight specialists work with, among other things, electrical engineering, instrumentation and analysis. In the electrical area, four colleagues work with their respective specialized areas, but with a culture of sharing knowledge, sparring and helping each other across.

The role combines desk work with involvement close to daily operations and the technical installations. You will therefore both calculate, design, document, troubleshoot and move out into the plant.

Your tasks

As an electrical engineer you work with both operation and maintenance as well as the refinery's long-term technical integrity.

You will include

  • support operations and maintenance with electrical engineering clarifications and problem solving
  • dimension electrical installations
  • perform short-circuit calculations, arc-flash calculations and selectivity analyses and prepare relay settings
  • monitor electrical equipment performance, condition, service life and upcoming replacement needs
  • prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings and electrical diagrams
  • assess power supply and specify equipment for new expansions
  • contribute to replacement, optimization and improvement projects together with the maintenance and project departments.

Over time you will have the opportunity and are expected to take greater independent responsibility to mature technical solutions from idea to decision basis.

Your profile

We are primarily looking for a person with a strong electrical engineering expertise. You might be an electrical engineer with high voltage as a specialty, an electrical installer or a marine engineer with a strong electrical profile. We expect that you have at least three years of experience with high voltage and larger electrical installations as well as experience with several of the following areas:

  • high voltage
  • dimensioning of electrical installations
  • short-circuit and arc-flash calculations
  • selectivity analyses
  • protective relays
  • electrical documentation, including electrical diagrams

You do not need to know it all from day one. The important thing is that you have a solid electrical engineering foundation and a desire and ability to build additional competences. Your experience may be from process industry, energy, utilities, grid companies, larger manufacturing companies, consulting engineering firms or supplier side.

Knowledge of ATEX installations, SCADA or similar systems is an advantage, but not a requirement.

As a person you take responsibility for your tasks, seek out the knowledge you lack, and can collaborate with other technical specialists, operations, maintenance and projects.
