Engineering Intern for Track in Design & Standards at Banedanmark

Do you want to help ensure and develop the technical quality of Denmark's railway infrastructure? And are you interested in trying your hand at technical case handling, standards work, and operation and maintenance? Then you may be our new intern!

We are looking for a motivated engineering intern for the area Planning & Standards in the section Track & Systems . You will have the opportunity to work at one of our offices in Fredericia or in Ringsted .

As an intern with us you will join a professionally strong environment, where you will play a key role in supporting our TSA staff. You will have the opportunity to bring your theoretical knowledge and new methods into practice, while you build valuable competencies in railway technology. For the right candidate, the internship can be a stepping stone to a future position as assistant TSA in the section.

A diverse daily life with technical immersion and professional guidance

In collaboration with experienced TSA staff you will be exposed to a wide range of technical and administrative tasks within track systems. Your tasks will include, among others:

• Operations and safety management: Handling of track data, reported faults and safety-critical conditions on the infrastructure, as well as preparation of assessment bases for operational measures (e.g. speed reductions).
• Technical case handling and approval: Review and preparation of technical drawings, assessment reports and requirements specifications for new equipment, as well as processing of dispensation applications.
• Standards work and authority dialogue: Preparation of technical notices, updating of railway standards and preparation of recommendations to the Danish Transport Authority (Trafikstyrelsen).
• Professional guidance: Providing support in advising on construction projects and handling technical inquiries from the management.

Who are you?

• You are pursuing a degree as a Diploma Engineer (e.g., in construction, civil engineering, mechanical or production) and want to get to know the railway sector.
• You have a structured and analytical approach to problem solving and an interest in technical case handling, data processing and standards.
• You thrive working independently as well as in teams and are good at communicating technical messages.
• You are eager to bring new knowledge and fresh perspectives into our daily work.

Salary and terms of employment

The internship period is 20 weeks (100 working days) with expected start on February 1, 2027.

Your working time will be 37 hours per week. You will receive pay during the internship period, according to the applicable internship agreement with IDA.

It is a prerequisite that you are an engineering student and that you can travel to the workplace.

The workplace is at one of Banedanmark's offices in either Fredericia or Ringsted, which have the following addresses:
