About the job

3,500 buildings, 830 properties and more than 2.6 million square meters. It is Copenhagen Properties' responsibility to maintain the physical framework in the daily life of Copenhageners – from schools and day-care institutions to cultural houses and social offerings. Now we seek a unit head who will lead our maintenance effort so our buildings can continue to accommodate the everyday life lived in them in the future.

With us you enter an organization that recently has consolidated planning, prioritization and execution of maintenance in the same center. Planned Maintenance is primarily an executing unit. Every year we initiate more than 300 maintenance projects for the municipality's seven departments and maintain over DKK 700 million annually in tasks ranging from pavilion buildings and modern institutions to historic landmarks in Copenhagen.

We offer a position as unit head for Planned Maintenance at a time when the entire organization focuses on sustainability, customer needs and professionalization of our governance framework. We must be good at executing the projects, but also at the project process itself – from the first dialogue with the customer in one of the municipality's seven departments until the project is completed.

From 2027 a new governance model for property maintenance will be implemented, in which you will become a central actor in bringing it to life. It all happens in a good working environment with high professionalism, an informal tone and relationships characterized by trust and collaboration.

Strategic altitude, transparency and execution

' In our center you will have the opportunity to become the leader of a department with two professionally capable section heads, both of whom are relatively new in the leadership role. You also join a large property organization with about 1,900 employees, which is why we have specialists in all areas and have every opportunity to deliver high quality again and again. If you have a natural curiosity, a strong desire to influence and you are decisive, then we have plenty of space for you to explore' , says center manager Lone Buch.

You report to the center manager for Property Development and Maintenance and form part of a leadership team together with the managers of the other three units in the center. You will lead a department of around 30 employees and have direct personnel responsibility for the two section heads and the unit's small procurement and contracting team.

About you

You are an experienced people leader with experience from a politically led operations organization – perhaps also experience in leading leaders. It would be an advantage to come with knowledge of property maintenance and operation, but it may also be that you come with maintenance experience from other sectors. It is important that you are very sharp on project management professionalism.

As a person you are decisive, so the execution pace is kept high. You read the room when demands are many and interests conflicting, and you can navigate in both a large and varied workload and the complex political reality we work in. You create calm at the long, tough parts, but go close to the processes and your section heads when required.

The small print

You can read more about the position in the detailed note . Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local salary formation.

You are welcome to call consultant Frederikke Helweg Hansen from Mercuri Urval at 41 32 86 24 for a confidential dialogue. You can also contact center manager Lone Buch at 24 97 54 45.

Apply via the link no later than Sunday 18 October 2026

We expect to hold 1st interviews Tuesday 20 October and 2nd interviews Tuesday 27 October. Between interviews there will be testing and we will request references.
