About the job

About the position

We are seeking a nurse with broad psychiatric and forensic psychiatric experience who will help make a difference for our patients, as soon as possible and preferably no later than December 1, 2026. You will become part of a unit with good camaraderie and colleagues focused on the most optimal treatment, care and support for the patient. We work with longer inpatient stays in a varied and interdisciplinary everyday life.

About the department

As of 1 January we have been merged with the forensic psychiatry at Skejby University Hospital. We will still be located in Viborg, but will experience a lift in professional development, research and being closer to higher professional specialization as part of a university hospital. R8 is a forensic psychiatric ward with 10 beds located on the 6th floor, where we have a beautiful view over the Viborg lakes and a look to the future with the new psychiatry building ready in the early 2030s. Here we are already shaping the structure and framework for the psychiatry of the future.

Your tasks

  • to perform nursing and treatment in accordance with guidelines and instructions
  • to work relationally oriented and inspire hope through milieu-therapeutic approaches
  • actively contribute to the patients' individual treatment plans and be part of the contact-person scheme and multidisciplinary teams
  • work with substance misuse and treatment thereof and tailor care to each patient’s unique needs
  • to create a working environment where the patients feel met with empathy and understanding
  • administrative tasks that relieve the management and the department.

Expectations of you

  • a trained nurse with broad psychiatric experience within forensic psychiatry from both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as substance abuse treatment
  • has cross-sector knowledge and experience within forensic psychiatry
  • has extensive knowledge and experience working with both an electronic patient journal (EPJ) and the M365 Office suite, and who is used to working quite independently
  • it is a requirement for the position that you can respond to alarms at other departments
  • readiness to work in 2-3 shift patterns, one of which is day shifts, and every second weekend
  • flexibility regarding shift planning, but also with the possibility to influence your own schedule on MinPlan
  • a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and with respect for the agreements and action plans made for and with the patients.

We offer

  • a good introduction and training with a mentoring scheme based on your experience and needs
  • monthly supervision and de-escalation training in your own department, as well as with the rest of the “house”
  • regular staff meetings and competence days that strengthen the collegial cohesion and ensure good professional standards
  • a staff group with a good mix of newly educated and experienced colleagues who value each other’s differences
  • professional development with the opportunity to participate in courses and education that can optimize forensic psychiatric care and treatment
  • a department that participates in various research projects that can lead to better treatment and understanding for patients admitted to forensic psychiatry.
