Do you want to help citizens with autism in a way that strengthens their self-determination and quality of life? Then we surely have your dream job.

Nymarksvej is part of Autism Center Southern Denmark and is located in scenic surroundings beside a sports field and a forest area. In nature we find calm and well-being. And when we know that an autism diagnosis often leads to an elevated stress level, colors and materials are carefully selected with inspiration precisely from nature. Other notable initiatives include niches and transition zones that give time for adjustment and the opportunity to be on the edge of the community on days when participation in the community becomes overwhelming.

Core task

“Based on each citizen’s resources, dreams and hopes, we strengthen self-determination and promote independence, in order to support the citizen’s own experience of quality of life and a meaningful life.”

Nymarksvej is a highly specialized 24/7 facility with 21 apartments, where 14 of the apartments are long-term residential care and 7 are temporary residential care.

The pedagogical task requires that you have a professional approach and can be present in contact with the individual citizen, to create a good relationship. You will become part of a small team with special responsibility for a smaller group of citizens. This requires good collaboration skills.

The professional efforts around the citizen are based on autism-specialist methods and approaches that are proven effective, such as KRAP, TEACCH, LA2 and ADL. In addition, we work with development descriptions and sensory assessments.

We are looking for occupational therapists who want to use their professional skills to plan and carry out meaningful activities for citizens as well as create sensory profiles for citizens

Special Tasks in the position

  • Planning and execution of activities that unite your professional skills with the citizens’ wishes and needs
  • Relevant screenings of the citizen, sensory profiles
  • Teaching and training of colleagues
  • Co-responsible for prioritization, planning and execution of the occupational therapy input

Your task is

  • Create a safe and predictable everyday life, where the citizen’s own influence is respected
  • Engage in a close, interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and management around the core task
  • Share responsibility for the social-pedagogical development together with colleagues and management
  • Collaborate with relatives and caseworkers
  • Work systematically with good documentation

We aim for close collaboration with the citizens’ relatives and other relevant partners, in order to create a coherent thread in the work around the individual citizen and the efforts around this.

We work purposefully on developing the citizens’ potential. This is with a view to creating the best conditions for the citizens to live a good life on their own terms. We work to de-escalate conflicts – the work requires you to have overview and to be able to handle situations with high emotional demands, where citizens may exhibit challenging behavior.

Your profile

  • Qualified occupational therapist
  • Take a basis in resources and development opportunities
  • Focus on the citizen’s dreams and hopes
  • Help the citizen make choices on their own terms
  • Spot development potential that makes sense and is motivating for the citizen
  • Can and will work for a good working environment, with openness and recognition
  • Physically and mentally robust and able to maintain calm in work with the citizens
  • Sees documentation as an integral part of the pedagogical work
  • Possess a valid driving license
  • Prepared for personal care to be part of the task
  • Can and dare to reflect on one’s own and others’ practice
  • Can receive and give constructive feedback with a view to shared goals and development around the core task.

We can offer you

  • A strong interdisciplinary environment with a high degree of specialization
  • Competence development during the employment
  • Work in a Center where there is a focus on professional competence development and the possibility of supervision
  • Professional theme days, meetings and sparring and supervision
  • A good working environment with engaged colleagues, where everyone is treated as equals
  • Work day/evening and every other weekend within the hours 6:00–23:00

”Region Syddanmark has adopted a strategy that all positions in the region should be advertised as full-time positions. At the same time, Region Southern Denmark has a life-phase policy that means there should also be room for employees who, at certain times in life, need a more flexible appointment, for example part-time employment. If you choose to apply for the position and you assess that you are in a life phase where you need a part-time role, you should indicate this in your application.
