About the job

Experienced authority officer for nature and coastal protection tasks

Do you want to help protect and develop nature in Assens Municipality? Are you professionally strong and experienced in authority work? And are you skilled at communicating professional topics in a clear and understandable way? Then read on here, perhaps you are our new colleague!

Assens Municipality contains varied and valuable nature with coastal landscapes, river valleys and the characteristic high-Fyn landscapes. We work purposefully to preserve and strengthen nature and the experiences in it, and we are now looking for an engaged and experienced colleague who will be a core employee in the natural science and authority area.

About the position

We are looking for a professionally strong and engaged employee with experience in authority work and an interest in both nature management and coastal protection. Both areas have high political attention and are of great importance to our citizens. Therefore, it is important that you thrive in navigating complex issues and have a solid professional foundation.

Many of our nature projects originate from the municipality's Nature and Outdoor Strategy: Nature and Outdoor Strategy for Assens Municipality, where biodiversity, nature protection and recreational opportunities are central areas of emphasis. You will primarily work with case processing within nature protection, Natura 2000, coastal protection, preservation cases, and environmental assessments.

The work involves close contact with citizens and landowners. Therefore, it is important that you can communicate professional topics in a clear and understandable way and build good relationships through dialogue and collaboration.

We offer a versatile and independent job where you have great opportunity to influence your tasks. The everyday life will be a combination of office work, meetings with citizens and landowners, and inspections in nature.

You will become part of a workplace with a positive, informal and helpful culture, where cooperation, trust and professional sparring are highly prioritized. We want a colleague who contributes to a good working environment and emphasizes trust, openness and propriety.

Your tasks

You will play a central role in the municipality's authority tasks within the field of nature.

Your main tasks will include, among others

  • process cases under the Nature Protection Act and the Coastal Protection Act
  • prepare environmental assessments and screenings
  • contribute to nature-technical sparring and collaboration with colleagues across the organization
  • actively contribute to the department's professional development and shared task solving
  • possibly participate in the EU LIFE Ring project in Assens Municipality

Who are you

We expect that you

  • have solid experience with authority work within the nature and environmental field
  • have experience from a municipality or other politically governed organization
  • have an interest in the natural area and botany
  • are a skilled communicator both orally and in writing
  • can create good relations and balance between dialogue and exercising authority
  • can work independently, in teams and across professional areas
  • are structured and good at planning your own tasks
  • positively contribute to both the professional and social community

Our tone is informal, respectful and characterized by humor, and we place emphasis on flexibility, collaboration and helpfulness. We want to help each other! At the same time we offer the possibility of home working when tasks permit.

The position is placed in the Nature and Outdoor Life Team, which consists of 7 colleagues who together work to protect and develop nature in the municipality and create good conditions for both citizens and visitors.
