About the job

Do you want to help create attractive and well-functioning workplaces in a department with many different professional disciplines? And can you translate knowledge about the work environment, wellbeing and sick leave into solutions that work in practice? Then you may be our new occupational health and safety consultant in the Leadership Secretariat of the City and Culture Administration.

With us you will play a central role in the work of developing a good working life across a large and diverse organization. You will get close to both strategic discussions and the daily reality at our workplaces – and you will become an important sparring partner for the director, the management group, leaders, the cooperation committee and the occupational health and safety organization. You will also become part of the Leadership Secretariat’s overall operations, where we support the management and participate in strategic cross-department projects.

About the job As a consultant in the Leadership Secretariat, one of your tasks will be to be the department’s occupational health and safety consultant. You must create coherence between the strategic direction and the local efforts. You must be able to move confidently between the management group’s agendas, leaders’ concrete needs, and the administration as a whole.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • Join the Leadership Secretariat’s consultant team and take on tasks initiated by management.
  • Support the strategic occupational health and safety agenda in the management group and advise leaders.
  • Strengthen the systematic occupational health and safety work in the department’s health and safety groups and be a reliable professional support when the Danish Working Environment Authority visits our workplaces.
  • Contribute to the organizational effort to reduce sick leave.
  • Prepare proposals for leadership forums, spar with leaders, support the use of data and develop relevant models and tools.
  • Plan and conduct the wellbeing survey for leaders and employees. You must both prepare the organization, support the process and help the management group and the workplaces with relevant and value-creating follow-up.
  • Be the occupational health and safety consultant for the department’s Cooperation Committee and support the dialogue between management and employees with proposals, data and professional knowledge. The committee meets about eight times a year.

You will have a broad contact surface and an important role in creating overview, progress and quality in all your tasks. You will need your broad contact network and management-supporting function when you join as part of the office’s overall operations and in the role of occupational health and safety consultant. As the department’s only occupational health and safety consultant you will have close professional relationships with a team of central consultants in the Mayor’s Office and with your occupational health and safety consultants in the other departments.

About you

We are looking for someone with a relevant social science academic degree, for example political science, who can combine solid occupational health and safety expertise with organizational understanding. We also place emphasis on the following:

  • Have at least 5 years of experience with management support and occupational health and safety work from a municipality or similar politically governed organization.
  • Have good knowledge of the MED agreement, the MED system’s structure and tasks in a municipality.
  • Be familiar with occupational health and safety legislation, including handling of work accidents.
  • Can translate data, legislation and professional knowledge into concrete interventions and usable advice.
  • Work in a structured and independent manner and be able to maintain an overview in a daily life with many different tasks and stakeholders.
  • Be strong in relationships and able to build trust with the director, the management group, leaders, and employees.
  • Be keen to become part of a secretariat with diverse tasks and broad collaboration interfaces within and across departments.
  • Preferably have experience as a process consultant and insight into organizational psychology, so you can support development at workplaces – also where collaboration is challenged.

About us In the City and Culture Administration we work with everything from urban development, culture and leisure to the operation of the municipality’s properties, local plans and business development. Our broad task portfolio means that we encompass many different disciplines – including librarians, cleaning assistants, engineers and building case handlers. Together we create the best conditions for life in the city and contribute to sustainable development of Odense.

Our workplaces are very different. About 300 employees work daily at Odense Castle and deal with, among other things, urban planning, economy, building case handling and development and maintenance of municipal buildings. In Technical Service and Cleaning, about 600 employees help ensure daily operations at schools, nursing homes and residential facilities. In the culture and leisure area we are responsible for, among others, Idrætsparken, stadium, bike arena, swimming pools, libraries and Kulturmaskinen.

Our shared vision is that together we create a city you won’t want to miss. We create beautiful, attractive and diverse settings for life in Odense and develop the city in close collaboration with citizens, associations, businesses and colleagues. As an employee you work from our four core values: decisive action, responsiveness, ambition and approachability. The values are the foundation for our collaboration and for the difference we make for Odense every day.
