About the job

Do you want to lead central processes in an area where more than 300 million kroner are invested annually in the restoration of Copenhagen's road infrastructure?

Do you have solid experience with project management, financial management and cross-cutting coordination – and do you thrive at the intersection of professionalism, economics, leadership and political decisions?

We are looking for an experienced project manager for Road Knowledge

You do not necessarily have to be an engineer. The key is that you are a strong and experienced project manager who can create overview and momentum in complex processes and translate professional and financial input into solid decision foundations.

About the job

The Recovery Programme was politically approved in 2013 and has since received grants of around 4 billion kroner to continuously maintain and restore significant infrastructure in Copenhagen.

The programme comprises a substantial part of the city’s infrastructure, including sidewalks, bike paths, carriageways, drainage, lighting and city structures. This is therefore a large and ongoing effort where each year we must prioritise which parts of the infrastructure to restore for about 350 million kroner.

As a project manager you will play a central role in the governance and development of the restoration area. You will help ensure coherence between economy, progress, technical priorities and political decisions across a larger portfolio of road projects.

You will work closely with road engineers, project managers, economists and other experts across the administration. Your role will largely be to connect the threads, create an overview and ensure that decisions are followed through.

Your primary tasks as project manager for restoration will include, among other things

  • drive and coordinate the central processes around restoration and ensure progress across the organisation
  • drive the cross-cutting steering group for restoration and ensure follow-up on decisions and deliveries
  • ensure ongoing financial overview and follow-up on a consolidated restoration portfolio of more than 300 million kroner annually, including preparing and communicating the status of finances, progress and key issues to management and the political level
  • develop and coordinate political positions, budget notes and other decision materials
  • contribute to coordinating the process for selecting and prioritising road sections for restoration

About you

We are primarily looking for an experienced project manager who can navigate safely in a complex organisation with many disciplines, interests and dependencies.

Your educational background could be, for example, a generalist with experience in project-, program- or portfolio management, or you could have a technical background as an engineer within roads, construction or infrastructure.

The most important is that you

  • have solid experience in driving larger and more complex projects or cross-cutting processes
  • have a strong financial understanding and experience with financial management, forecasts and follow-up
  • can create structure, overview and progress in a portfolio with many simultaneous activities
  • are analytically strong and quickly able to grasp complex professional and financial issues
  • can gather different professional contributions and translate complex issues into clear and precise recommendations and a decision basis for both professional, managerial and political recipients
  • take responsibility, work independently and follow decisions and deliveries through to the end
  • have strong collaboration skills and can build good relationships across disciplines and organizational units
  • would preferably have experience from a politically governed organisation or another large and complex organisation

We offer

You will gain a central project manager role in an area with significant financial, professional and political importance for Copenhagen. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with skilled specialists and help set the direction for how we prioritise and develop the restoration of the city’s road infrastructure.

In Road Knowledge you will have a daily life with broad professional scope, independent responsibility and many collaboration interfaces. We place emphasis on professional sparring, good cooperation and on us finding solutions together and making tasks succeed.

Common to us is a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and an ambition to find the best solutions to our tasks. We are engaged in our work and proud to contribute to the positive development of Copenhagen.
