About the job

Do you want to lead the work to give Mølleåen a boost? Do you have experience with lake and river restoration, and would you like to drive a project with many partners from idea to concrete actions? Then you now have the opportunity to become our new colleague in Team Nature in the Nature and Environment Department.

The position has been created as a direct consequence of the parties in the City Council having reached an agreement on the budget for 2027 in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality and having allocated additional funds to strengthen the effort to improve water quality in Mølleåen. The funds will strengthen the work on sewage planning, discharge permits and the overall condition of the river. You will be the one driving the last part: identifying the measures that can improve Mølleåen and the associated lakes.

At the same time, we are hiring a colleague in another department to strengthen the work with sewage planning and discharge permits. In practice, we have a close collaboration.

Mølleåen and the lakes along the river are among the most valuable nature in the municipality – and a water system used by many, from rowers and anglers to walkers and cyclists. The river runs through several municipalities, and improvements require close cooperation with the other Mølleå municipalities, the state and the many stakeholders and users of the river and lakes.

About the job

Your primary task will be to drive the work of identifying, prioritizing, and maturing initiatives that can improve the condition of Mølleåen and the associated upstream lakes (Lyngby Lake, Bagsværd Lake, Furesø). You will receive a clear mandate and a political focus behind the task – and the responsibility to translate it into concrete results.

The tasks will primarily be

  • Drive the project for a strengthened effort for Mølleåen from scoping and project description to concrete actions, including timeline, finances, progress, and anchoring
  • Compile and assess existing knowledge on water quality, ecological condition and sources of pollution, and indicate the need for new knowledge
  • Identify and assess possible measures in the river and lakes, e.g., river and lake restoration, improvement of physical conditions and reduction of nutrient load
  • Participate in establishing and facilitating cooperation with the other Mølleå municipalities, the state, utility companies, landowners, associations and users of the river and lakes
  • Prepare decision basis, agenda items and briefings for the political level
  • Contribute to the municipality's other river tasks together with the rest of the team, especially the other river colleague and colleagues in the operations department and across the administration
  • Give and receive sparring on initiatives with colleagues, especially the river colleague and the colleagues who work with sewage planning and discharge permits.

The tasks are carried out both independently and in close collaboration with your nearest river colleague and other colleagues across the nature and wastewater area – in your own department and in the rest of the Center for City and Nature.

About you

You have solid experience with lake and river work and restoration and know what it takes to move an initiative from analysis to action in a field with many actors. You are good at creating momentum and getting others on board, and you thrive in a politically governed organization.

We are looking for a colleague who can check off many of the points below

  • Has a relevant academic education such as biology or similar
  • Has substantial experience with lake and river restoration projects
  • Has strong experience with project or program management, preferably in projects with many partners
  • Has pronounced organizational understanding and can navigate both in your own organization and across authorities and stakeholders
  • Has execution power and can translate plans into concrete initiatives and results
  • Works independently and takes responsibility for own task solving
  • Has a pronounced sense of collaboration and places great emphasis on sparring and knowledge sharing
  • Understands political decision-making processes in municipalities and can write for a political level
  • Has knowledge of the Administrative Procedure Act and the relevant professional legislation in the area
  • Writes and communicates well in Danish, i.e. short, clear and understandable.

You will work with kind and skilled colleagues who have solid experience in their areas and who prioritize a good working environment and sense of community. We therefore meet across both professionally and in social arrangements with elastic exercises, cake, breakfast, Friday bar and DHL relay for those who can and want to participate.

Leadership style is trust-based with focus on good dialogue and task solving, and we place great emphasis on collaboration and helpfulness in our department and across the municipality while also leaving room for a laugh in everyday life.

In the center we are about 110 employees distributed across five departments.
