About the job

We are looking for a family therapist for our strengthened family-focused initiative, Familiens Hus.

Do you have an eye for dynamics, contexts and connections in children’s and families’ lives and everyday life, and do you have experience translating this insight into changes in the families? Then please read on.

We are seeking a colleague from January 1, 2027 to solve complex treatment and change tasks with children and families in close collaboration with the actors around them.

How do we work?

We are a small service with three experienced family therapists, where you will be the fourth. Our tasks often involve a high degree of complexity, and the level of concern for the children, who are between 5 and 12 years old, is high.

The tasks in each family have a supportive and developmental purpose and are granted under the Child Act § 32.

The children and families we meet are confronted with many different challenges. Therefore you must be able to work with a wide range of issues, including social vulnerability, substance abuse, physical and mental violence in the family, mental illness and distress, with a basis in diagnoses, family dynamics, attachment challenges and isolation.

Our practice is built on three fundamental elements

Family-focused

We work relationally from a systemic understanding of the family and its dynamics. Our methods range from family-therapeutic to guiding social-pedagogical approaches. We work with both the whole family and with parents alone.

Our aim is to strengthen the bond between child and parent and enable the family to create and maintain a recognizable and structured everyday life that supports the child’s need for safety and care.

Child-focused

We work closely with the children and actively involve them in the efforts. Our practice is relationship- and attachment-conscious, playful, activity-based and experiential.

We want to create practice spaces for the child in areas where it is difficult to practice alone. In addition, we offer communities for the children in Familiens Hus through group-based methods.

Community- and network-focused

We maintain a close dialogue with school, daycare and other arenas in the child’s life. We see it as an important part of our task to contribute to the child’s participation in communities.

We collaborate with the family on involving both private and professional networks and support uncovering resources around the family and the child, so the network can become a helpful support for both child and family.

As a family therapist in Familiens Hus you will be part of a daily life that demands high professionalism and your ability to coordinate and plan the work. You must be able to create development based on children’s and families’ life circumstances and preferences by meeting them where they are when the need arises.

Our work is anchored in Familiens Hus at Tranegårdsvej 77 in Gentofte. We also work in the families’ homes and at the arenas in the child’s and family’s life where our intervention is needed. All of this in close collaboration and dialogue with the family’s child and youth counselor.

Organizationally and managerially, we are part of FamilieCentret.

You will receive external supervision as a natural part of the work at Familiens Hus.

Your strengths and qualifications – who are you?

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Has a curious and exploratory approach to methods and practice and enjoys reflecting on their own practice together with colleagues, partners and management.
  • Is clear and can stand firm in supporting children and families and maintain professional courage even when the waves are high.
  • Has a particular eye for inclusion and clarification of the child’s voice in the processes.
  • Is sharp in documenting interventions and communicating this, as this is a cornerstone in the overall change work.
  • Is good at seeing the child, the family and their situation from different perspectives and thereby consciously adjusts or changes methods and approaches in the individual case.
  • Can work independently with a flexible approach to task solving, where you plan the work and the working hours based on the family’s needs. The work never starts before 06:30 or after 22:30 on weekdays. We are aware that flexibility also requires that daily life fits together for the individual employee.

As we are a small team where management is not with us daily, you must be able to work closely with your nearest colleagues. This applies both to task solving, where we typically work in pairs, and to well-being and work environment.

We place great emphasis on and strive to create a strong work community characterized by mutual respect, where we can be serious and laugh together.

We are in the process of implementing a new service description. Therefore you must be able to actively participate in implementation and development work to ensure that Familiens Hus continues to be a qualified and helpful offer to citizens of Gentofte Municipality.

We expect you to have a relevant educational background, preferably supplemented with continuing education and/or experience in family treatment and practices aimed at the well-being of children and families.

If you can see yourself in the above, we would very much like to hear from you.

Small print

The position is 37 hours per week and is paid according to the applicable collective agreement (PFF) as well as individual qualifications.

The application deadline is 13 November 2026 at 12:00, and interviews will be held Monday 23 November 2026.

Applications with relevant attachments, including certificates, are sent electronically via the link on the page.

If you want to know more about the position and Familiens Hus, or have questions based on what you have read, you are very welcome to contact the head of FamilieCentret and Familiens Hus, Sune Boysen, at tel. 21 58 25 55 or family therapist in Familiens Hus, Laila Pedersen, at tel. 21 26 96 80.

If the phone is not answered, you are welcome to send a text message. We will call back as soon as possible.

Gentofte Municipality has a general policy that when employing in the children and youth area, both a criminal record and a child certificate will be requested.

Thank you for your interest. We hope to hear from you.
