About the job

Family First is a holistic pedagogical effort, where the family's overall situation is viewed and analyzed from different angles, and where, as needed, teams with different competencies work in close collaboration. Work is carried out in families facing complex issues, or where children and young people are at risk of placement – or as an effort that reunites a family after a placement.

Fundamentally, as an employee you must understand that the effort developed in the home is created together with the family, so child/young person/family, social worker and intervention staff have a shared understanding of what must be worked on to keep the family together.

It requires a humble and egalitarian view of people, and it requires an understanding of interdisciplinary systemic work, where we view the problem broadly, so schools, day care, job center, psychiatry, bank advisers etc. are co-considered in the solution together with the individual family.

You must be educated as a pedagog or have another social- or health-related education, preferably with an additional perspective and experience in family interventions. It could be extra knowledge of development of small children, kindergarten, school, SFO or other areas where you can enrich the overall effort with your perspective and specific professional knowledge.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Has basic respect, humility and integrity towards all we meet
  • Can establish trust in the relationship with both child/young person and family
  • Dare to put yourself in play in creative individual solutions
  • Is a team player – who is good at reading and writing
  • Willing to forge new paths – on a professional basis
  • Is stable and keeps things in order
  • Has a twinkle in the eye and enjoys having fun with colleagues
  • Can light up the situation – where it is about to go out
  • Has a driver's license

We offer

  • Lots of lovely children, young people and families in need of help
  • A workplace with lively colleagues and room for diversity
  • Colleagues with a high level of personal and professional commitment
  • A workplace where we largely work reflectively and mentalising
  • Focus on employee well-being, open and honest communication, and flexibility in the workday
  • Opportunity to influence the planning of tasks
  • Opportunity for professional development that strengthens you – and the workplace
  • Continuous supervision

Family First is anchored in Family Interventions, which are part of a multidisciplinary unit under the administration of Children, Education and Health in Sønderborg Municipality. Family Interventions consists of three units – Family Therapist Team, Family Care Consultant Team and Family First. We base our work on a systemic, mentalising and neuro-affective approach to the family, and in our work with children, young people and their families we focus on a credible, recognizing and resource-oriented approach that can contribute to developing the family's own coping and learning.

In Family Interventions we work closely with Children and Young People Interventions, the social worker in the Authority Department, as well as the child’s, the young person’s and the family’s other professional and private networks to create binding communities in which the child or young person can participate and develop. The entire organization takes its starting point in a view of people characterized by equality, dignified inclusion and understanding that people can be in crisis and have different life conditions.

Working hours will mainly be during daytime, but weekend and evening work may occur. The position is full-time. Start date January 1, 2027.

The application deadline is Monday 16 November 2026. Interviews will be held in week 48 at Borgmester Andersens Vej 26, 6400 Sønderborg.

Upon offer of employment, references as well as child and criminal background checks will be obtained.

Salary in accordance with the agreement between the trade organization and Sønderborg Municipality.

For further information about the position, please contact Head of Family Interventions, Charlotte Kastoft Rasmussen at tel. 21 19 46 48, or email: [email protected]
