Fyns Internat is seeking a full-time employee with a specialization in cats

Do you have a professional background as a veterinary nurse and would you like to be part of a strong professional environment where you make a concrete difference for hundreds of animals each year? Fyns Internat is seeking a full-time employee with a particular interest in cats and solid knowledge of their care, welfare, diseases and behavior.

About the job

You will become a permanent part of our cat team, which each year helps over 1,800 cats. Together with your colleagues you are responsible for professional assessment, matching and placement of cats in new homes, and you are also the contact person for our approximately 300 foster families who annually help us with over 1,000 cats.

Although your focus is cats, we expect you to participate in all duties at the shelter. Therefore you should have a good all-round knowledge of care and nursing of cats, dogs, rabbits and preferably other small companion animals, and assist our veterinarian in daily work.

The workday is often busy and unpredictable, and you must thrive in an on-call environment where no one quite knows how the day will unfold until it is over. You manage to juggle many tasks, stay calm and handle periods when there is a lot requiring your attention.

Your competencies

• are a trained veterinary nurse
• have solid professional knowledge about cats, including care, welfare, diseases and behavior
• can communicate at eye level and are good at communicating in Danish, both written and spoken
• can work in and learn new administrative IT systems
• are interested in behavior, enrichment and training, as the animals here do not just sit and wait
• have physical stamina, as we walk many kilometers a day
• have a robust mindset and can work in a place where there are many emotions at play every single day
• are a team player and believe that we succeed best together

Working hours and terms

Salary and employment terms according to the current 3F collective agreement. Working hours are on average 37 hours per week. We are open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., 365 days a year. Also when it is Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and weekends. Therefore you should be able to cope with varying shifts and expect 2 evening shifts per week and to work every 3rd weekend.

Your colleagues and the workplace

You will have a group of engaged colleagues with high professional standards and a large group of volunteers who have daily presence at the shelter. We are a good team that shares the tasks and is passionate about animal welfare, and we place emphasis on collaboration, sparring and shared responsibility.

Fyns Internat is owned by Dyrenes Beskyttelse (the Danish Society for Animal Protection) and is located at Store Landevej 33, 5592 Ejby. There is no direct public transport to the shelter, so you must be able to get there by other means.
