Strong leader to develop and professionalize an ambitious growth company

As General Manager you will lead the continued development of the Danish organization and ensure structure, leadership and performance fit together even better.

The task and responsibility

You will have the overall management responsibility for the Danish organization of about 80 employees. The position reports to the Group CEO and is part of Scanmetals' Senior Management Team.

The main task will be to lead and develop the Danish business with responsibility for people, operations and financial performance.

Scanmetals has a strong entrepreneurial history and a culture characterized by action orientation, short decision-making paths and great closeness to the business. The next phase requires building further on these strengths while at the same time creating more structure, solid data, clearer responsibilities and greater coherence across the value chain.

You will set the direction for the Danish organization, develop the management team and ensure that strategic goals are translated into concrete results. The role requires both a strategic view of the overall business and a high degree of hands-on approach to operations. You must be able to move from the high-level priorities to the concrete challenges on the factory floor and back again.

The central areas of responsibility are

• Leadership and organization: Set the direction for the Danish organization, develop the management team and create clear priorities, responsibilities and follow-up.
• Operational performance: Ensure better utilization of production capacity through focus on volume, productivity, production flow, machine performance, Lean and continuous improvements.
• Financial performance: Be responsible for the Danish P/L and ensure a close link between production, capacity, costs and earnings, among other things through stronger production controlling and the use of data.
• HSE, quality and processes: Ensure a sustained focus on HSE and quality and support the work with ISO certification.
• Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration across the Danish organization and with the group’s global functions and other country organizations.

Experienced leader with strong business and production understanding

Scanmetals is seeking an experienced leader from a larger production or process company where optimization of workflow, technical complexity, capacity utilization, productivity and HSE are central elements.

You can lift your head up and work strategically with the business, achieve results through others and at the same time understand the details and get close to a problem when the situation requires it.

You understand the link between people, processes and financial results.

It is expected that you have

• Solid leadership experience from a production or process company, including experience in leading through managers and developing an organization.
• Documented business and financial understanding, including P/L responsibility, production controlling and the ability to translate data into concrete priorities and actions.
• Strong operational experience with Lean, capacity utilization, productivity and machine-based production or process operation.
• Experience with HSE, quality and change management, preferably from an organization where standardization and professionalization have been part of the development.

It is not essential that you come from the metal or recycling industry. The experience can also be from process industry, industrial production or other production environments with large volumes, complex material flows and a substantial machine park.

Your educational background can be technical, production, engineering, economic or similar. Relevant management experience from a comparable organization is valued highly.

You communicate professionally in Danish and English.

Clear leader with both strategic vision and practical approach

You are a clear and visible leader who sets direction, follows up and creates commitment. You thrive on having responsibility and on being accountable for both the organization's development and the concrete results.

You can move naturally between production, the management team and the group management. You have a view of the whole and can work strategically with the business, but you also have a hands-on approach and a natural interest in how things work in practice.

Scanmetals, with its entrepreneurial background and strong go-do culture, now needs more structure and systematicity without losing the drive and closeness to the business that have been an important part of Scanmetals' development and success. It requires a leader who can create more structure without unnecessary bureaucracy and more professionalism without creating distance to the organization.

Central role in the continued development

As General Manager Denmark you will have the overall management responsibility for the Danish organization and a central role in Scanmetals' growth journey. You will contribute to the green transition and the circular economy in a company with strong capital and ambitious ownership.

You will have the opportunity to shape the entire organization in leadership, Lean, capacity improvements, workplace safety and operational performance.

The primary workplace is Kirke Stillinge near Slagelse, and the role requires a high degree of physical presence close to the organization and the production.
