About the job

Are you a strong people manager with an interest in the environment and nature? Do you want to become a team leader in a strong professional environment, and take responsibility for a team that works with environmental assessments at the intersection of natural sciences and public administration? Then you now have the opportunity to realise this in the Agency for Green Area Relocation and Water Environment in the Environmental Assessment and Planning unit.

About the Environmental Assessment and Planning Unit

The Environmental Assessment and Planning Unit consists of about 55 staff with strong professional competencies in environment, nature, law and planning.

The unit works, among other things, with environmental impact assessments of government construction projects, where potential effects on the environment and nature are identified and assessed. The work includes, for example, assessments of impacts on natural areas, protected species, the water environment and landscapes. We ensure, as part of this, quality in the technical and legal assessments of the projects' consequences.

In addition, there are ongoing cross-cutting development projects such as improving the environmental assessment process, new guidelines and changes in regulations. This should be seen in light of the fact that the unit also has responsibility for the development and management of legislation and guidance in the area, including rules on environmental assessment and open land.

The unit also carries out the state plant supervision across the Agency for Green Area Relocation and Water Environment, i.e., supervision to ensure that municipalities' land-use planning (municipal plans), regional mineral planning and state designations of energy parks meet national interests, including in nature, afforestation, landscape, geology and extraction of low-lying areas.

The work takes place in close collaboration with a broad range of actors, including other authorities and interest organizations. The unit also maintains ongoing dialogue with municipalities in particular and provides guidance on applicable rules and practices.

Your tasks

We are seeking a team leader for our water team with the following main tasks

  • People management of approx. 10 employees

Managing the water team’s staff with presence, trust and through dialogue. As a leader you will support employees’ motivation, work, professional development and well-being. We are a agency where we place great emphasis on treating each other well and properly – and where it should be a good experience for both employees and leaders to go to work.

  • Professional leadership

As team leader you will set the framework for tasks, establish a clear direction, secure progression in task execution and ensure compliance with the rules in the team’s area. You will help and support the employees with prioritising tasks, processes, etc. The team’s areas primarily include coordination and professional assessments related to environmental assessments, including with regard to the water area. In addition, development projects, regulatory work and guidance, etc. The team’s work requires a lot of collaboration and coordination across – both within the organisation and with external parties.

  • The unit’s management group

You will become part of the unit’s overall management group consisting of two division heads, three team leaders and one functional head. As part of the management, you will help set goals and direction for the unit and ensure that daily operations run well across the unit in relation to the overall task portfolio. You will also contribute to supporting a good and open working culture across the unit and the agency, where we take pride in treating each other well while maintaining a high professional level.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience as a people manager
  • Have an academic education
  • Are a present and clear leader, who is good at setting direction, motivating, creating progress and ensuring well-being
  • Take responsibility for both your own tasks and the team’s development
  • Have experience with public administration
  • Have interest in and possibly experience with environmental assessments
  • Perhaps have experience with the Environmental Assessment Directive and the Water Framework Directive
  • Have good collaboration skills and value working with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Communicate precisely in writing and speech and manage to make specialised knowledge understandable, relevant and usable for the recipient

We offer

  • You will become part of the unit’s management group.
  • You will have ample opportunity to develop and strengthen your leadership.
  • You will become part of a strong professional environment with skilled and dedicated colleagues. Here we help each other find the right solutions.
  • You will have independent responsibility and a daily life with important and varied tasks
  • Tasks with many external partners in the unit, across the agency and with many interfaces including cross-ministerial and cross-agency working groups
  • A flexible working environment with a high degree of planning responsibility and the possibility of remote working days
  • We place emphasis on a good working environment with informal tone, high ceilings and room for a good laugh in a busy everyday life
