About the job
Are you interested in perioperative nursing and up for delivering nursing during short patient contacts, then we have a permanent position for you – preferably 37 hours per week, but other arrangements can be made.
In autumn 2025, the Center for Elective Orthopedic Surgery at Gentofte opened. Here, the Capital Region unites uncomplicated elective orthopedic surgeries. The center is starting with hip and knee arthroplasties, which is the largest area within elective orthopedic surgery. The center will contribute to the development and innovation of elective pathways across the region.
Whether you have experience in perioperative nursing or not, seize the opportunity and become part of our exciting department. The Central Operating Department provides nursing of high professional quality to both elective and acute surgical patients within orthopedics and urology.
The Department of Anesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care is one of the Capital Region’s largest departments with about 600 staff. The department is organized at both Herlev and Gentofte Hospital with a shared Chief Physician and two Chief Nurses, and also houses a well-functioning cross-departmental research division.
We are about 60 engaged and professionally skilled perioperative nurses, spread across several different specialties. We are seeking new colleagues for permanent positions as our department will open several orthopedic surgical suites. We work according to the hospital’s vision “Well treated,” where well treated applies to the patient, relatives, and staff. We strive to provide the best perioperative pathways for the patient, placing the individual patient at the center of every operation.
At the Central Operating Department, we place a high value on professional development, and in addition to your individually tailored orientation, we work with you toward national competence cards for both new and experienced perioperative nurses.
Knee- and hip arthroplasty surgery at Gentofte performs both primary and revision arthroplasties, where revisions may be elective or acute. The arthroplasty section is the region’s largest with around 1,800 operations last year.
Shoulder surgery at Gentofte covers shoulder, elbow and foot surgery, and has both elective and acute patients. The operations range from large revision arthroplasties and fractures to arthroscopies and foot surgeries.
The hand section at Gentofte covers both elective and acute patients. In this section there is also great variation in the complexity of procedures, and patients in hand surgery are often operated in blocks or under local anesthesia, and are thus awake during the procedure.
The department works toward all perioperative nurses eventually gaining competencies in 2 or more specialties.
