About the job

Looking for a versatile and social student job where you are in contact with scholars from Danida partner countries? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for to our student assistant team!

About Danida Fellowship Centre

Danida Fellowship Centre is a self-governing institution that contributes to the fulfilment of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals by facilitating capacity building, development research and university collaborations within the framework of Denmark's development cooperation.

We manage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' grants for capacity development of Danida's partner organisations through learning courses and capacity-building activities, administer development research and university collaborations, and promote knowledge sharing across countries and institutions.

Every year we organise learning activities and study stays for around 1,000 scholars from 30 different countries. We also run a college for visiting scholars and researchers.

Through our work we connect people, knowledge and institutions to strengthen capacity, develop competences and find solutions across borders.

Everything takes place in a professional yet informal working environment, where 55 permanent staff and nine student assistants collaborate to translate knowledge into action and deliver results.

About the position

We offer a versatile student job with varied tasks and flexible hours. You will be part of the close collaboration in our team of skilled and committed student assistants – our Junior Staff team.

Junior Staff is the driving force behind our social and cultural initiatives for our scholars. For many scholars, Junior Staff is among the first people they meet when arriving in Denmark. You help provide them with a good welcome, a safe start, and good framework for their study stay. During their stay you will play an important role in supporting communities and promoting relations across countries and disciplines that will endure long beyond their time in Denmark.

We are therefore looking for

Junior Staff: Mainly evenings/weekends, as well as some early Monday morning shifts.

(Flexible hours from 5 – 15 hours per week)

You should apply for this job if

  • You want an exciting and different student job where you come into contact with scholars from many different fields and from all ages from Danida's partner countries
  • You are outgoing and engaged, and comfortable speaking up and taking the lead in larger gatherings
  • You are responsible, service-minded and can work independently – e.g. taking initiative and solving problems
  • You want to work somewhere where you play an important role, receive responsibility and influence
  • You would like to contribute ideas to the programme for our social and cultural activities
  • You meet other people without prejudice and have natural curiosity and interest in working with people from all over the world, and are good at building relationships
  • It is advantageous if you have worked or stayed longer in a development or growth country and have good cultural understanding
  • You can work outside normal hours – e.g. early mornings and late evenings, on weekdays and weekends
  • You have at least two years left of your studies in higher education
  • You speak English and Danish

Your tasks will include

  • Being a host and responsible for the café in our social and cultural café in the evening at the Danida Fellowship Centre college on Frederiksberg.
  • Providing welcome introductions for groups of 20-25 scholars and accompanying them to their study location on their first study day, mainly in Copenhagen
  • Planning, coordinating, facilitating and carrying out social and cultural activities in the house as well as in and around Copenhagen.
  • Assisting at various events such as professional meetings, talks and receptions
  • Being part of a team of 9 student assistants based on Inner Frederiksberg

Diversity is a strength. It helps us understand the multifaceted target group we work with and contributes to breaking habits and thinking innovatively. We therefore encourage all interested people regardless of age, gender, religion or ethnic background to apply for the position.

Employment is offered in accordance with the joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Civil Servants Collective Agreement (StK: joint agreement) as well as the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK/STAT for clerical staff.
