About the job

Are you passionate about architecture and culture, communication, good service and unique experiences? Would you like to help welcome both Copenhagen residents and international guests at KAI – the new Water Culture House on Paper Island? Then you might be one of our new student assistants for guided tours.

We offer

  • an attractive student job in an inspiring, new cultural environment on Paper Island
  • thorough training and ongoing sparring
  • opportunity to develop your skills within communication, service and hospitality
  • close collaboration with an engaged team

KAI – The Water Culture House on Paper Island

Copenhagen's new water culture house opens soon on Paper Island. It will be a spectacular meeting place where water, culture and architecture unite in a vibrant setting of immersion, community life and togetherness.

The building is designed by the Japanese firm Kengo Kuma & Associates and offers architecture of international excellence. Here, Copenhageners can swim their laps in the morning, indoors and along the harbour edge, relax in the meditative wellness area with views over the inner harbour of Copenhagen, or participate in cultural events and meetings in the building's highest tower.

About the position

Your main task will be to facilitate guided tours in the new water culture house in Danish and English. We offer 4-6 guided tours per week, split between Danish and English groups. We particularly expect demand for English tours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, but we will adapt as best as possible in dialogue with you.

You will be a visible host in the foyer and out on the quay, ensuring that our guests feel welcome and safe.

In the first six months you will help collect data and conduct small user surveys, as it is important to get to know our guests and their needs.

As needed you will handle ad hoc tasks.

About you

  • is an active student in a relevant higher education program, e.g., within architecture, design, urban studies or modern culture and cultural communication
  • has experience with service, guided tours, communication or hospitality – e.g., from culture, museums or similar
  • speaks Danish and English at a high level
  • can deliver high service and effective communication – even when busy
  • is outgoing, approachable and thrives on dialogue with many different people
  • can work independently and responsibly
  • wants to contribute to a lively and inclusive culture house environment
  • is flexible and prepared to work both weekdays and weekends, especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • is curious about architecture and the city’s cultural life – and committed to giving guests great experiences

Conditions of employment

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The positions are 15 hours per week with start on January 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. There is the possibility to increase to 20-25 hours per week in the summer period, when we expect more international guests.

You will be part of a fixed rotation, where shifts primarily fall on Thursdays–Saturdays, but there may also be activities at other times. Working hours will be adjusted to your studies.

We will obtain a child background check and references in connection with the employment. You must be able to document that you are a student.
