About the job

The Institute of Forensic Medicine is seeking a student assistant (15 hours/week). Start date 12 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the Institute of Forensic Medicine

The Institute of Forensic Medicine conducts forensic examinations for society and conducts research and teaching based on this. We have three forensic departments that, among other things, support the judiciary and other authorities with tasks within forensic pathology (the deceased), clinical forensic medicine (the living), forensic genetics and forensic chemistry – as well as an overarching administrative staff.

We are one of the country’s three forensic institutes, the largest and the only one with a forensic genetics department, which is why we are responsible for all forensic DNA analyses in Denmark. We work objectively, neutrally and documentably and according to ISO standards, and we see ourselves as an important guarantor of the rule of law in Denmark for both victims and suspects.

You will be part of the Institute of Forensic Medicine’s staff of specialists

The unique role of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in society is reflected in the complexity of the regulatory framework we are subject to. The institute is covered by university rules, but also by special provisions in the Health Act and the Data Protection Act, just as we must comply with specialized legislation applicable to the police and the judiciary.

You will work under the supervision of the institute’s house legal counsel, who is part of the staff of specialists that support the institute’s operations and research, and who among other things advises the departments on data protection, drafts contracts and clarifies legal questions within the forensic field.

You will assist with the following tasks

  • Research in legal sources and literature
  • Administrative support and ad hoc registration tasks

We imagine that you

  • Are well underway with your studies, but have a perspective of at least 2–3 years before you complete your education
  • Have an interest in data protection, health law and the judiciary
  • Are curious and capable of independently seeking information, with competent guidance
  • Have good written and oral communication skills
  • Have an eye for detail and confidentiality

Personal competencies

  • You are positive and empathetic
  • You are curious and ready to understand the ‘business’ and the varied tasks that the Institute of Forensic Medicine handles
  • You are thorough, service-minded and possess integrity

We offer

  • Unique opportunity to gain insight into the rules in the forensic field
  • Good colleagues who help each other and create a social and interesting work environment
  • A dynamic workplace in the Teilum Building at Rigshospitalet
  • Flexible working hours and the opportunity to develop both your professional and personal competencies
  • Free staff parking and other employee benefits (e.g., staff association, rental of vacation housing, arts and culture offers as well as fitness offers)

Some tasks at the institute provide insight into incidents that can have a psychological impact. To handle this, the institute offers various forms of help and support, including preventive measures.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is with a weekly average working time of 15 hours. The working hours are coordinated over the year to fit your studies and exams.

Pay is provided as a student under the applicable Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Public Employees Organizations - The Public Sector Area (OAO-S collective agreement) and the Organizational Agreement for Office Clerks, Laboratory Technicians and IT Employees (HK).

The minimum hourly wage is 145.73, including qualification allowance for qualified work (August 1, 2026 level). You will be placed on the pay scale based on previous employment

To be employed, you must be enrolled and an active student at a higher education institution. The employment ends as soon as you are no longer a student.
