Harvest and Fisheries Consultant for Operations and Environment

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is seeking a dynamic Catch and Fisheries Consultant for the Operations and Environment Department under the Administration for Construction and Environment. We are looking for an outgoing person with in-depth knowledge of the rules applicable in the hunting and fishing sector. The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by arrangement.

We are seeking a Catch and Fisheries Consultant who has knowledge of the regulations and legislation within the hunting and fishing area. You should have knowledge of grant opportunities for fishers and hunters, and of financing for the purchase of a new boat and equipment. The tasks will be varied in character.

You will as a Catch and Fisheries Consultant, among other things, have the following tasks:

∙Management of living resources in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq's administration area

∙Contact with fishers, hunters, recreational fishers, fisher organizations and Self-Government

∙Process applications regarding hunting and fishing

∙Advice on grants for the purchase of a vessel

∙Registration of vessels with the Danish Maritime Authority

∙Response to various consultations in collaboration with colleagues

∙Development of the fishing and hunting industry

∙Knowledge of the legislation within the industry

∙Interdisciplinary collaboration with the involved parties

∙Case presentations to the committee

∙Secretary for the Fisheries Council

∙Diverse ad hoc tasks

You have

∙Solid administrative experience from similar tasks

∙Professionally engaged and proactive

∙Can work independently, responsible and service-oriented

∙Good communicator

∙Have IT skills at user level

∙Stable, loyal and good-humoured

∙Systematic and structured

∙Good linguistic and written skills in Danish and Greenlandic

Criminal record certificate

This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record certificate. Under the law, employment may only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record certificate. We should therefore note that the start date can only be agreed once the municipality has received the certificate from the Police.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and, according to the agreement in force at the time of the start date, the relevant negotiating organization.

The appointment will be made with a 3-month probation period.
