About the job

Maribo Gymnasium seeks a new Head of Education

Would you like to help lead, operate and develop a high school in a time of change?

Maribo Gymnasium is seeking a professionally skilled and relationship-oriented Head of Education. The task, together with the rest of the leadership, is to consolidate the school's high academic attainment and social well-being at STX and HF, as well as to ensure and prepare the EPX education. We seek a Head of Education who through their presence and work contributes to providing young people on Midtlolland with a academically strong education offer and an attractive youth environment where there is plenty to learn and to be.

Part of a leadership team

The leadership consists of a principal and vice-principal and of the Head of Education we are seeking. We work closely together on the leadership and development of Maribo Gymnasium. We share responsibility for the school, while the individual leader has responsibility for their own areas and tasks.

As Head of Education, you will help create a well-functioning everyday life for students and staff while supporting and further developing a school culture based on collaboration, dialogue, responsibility and trust. You must be able to connect the strategic level with everyday decisions and be willing to take on the concrete leadership and operational tasks that keep the school functioning every day.

Profile for our new Head of Education

We imagine that you have several of the following experiences and competencies

  • have in-depth knowledge of the upper secondary education area, particularly STX and HF, and ideally knowledge of primary or vocational schooling
  • have teaching competence in at least one subject within the upper secondary curriculum
  • are professionally, pedagogically and didactically well-founded
  • can keep a cool head and sometimes solve tasks at a high pace
  • can oversee and handle complex pedagogical, administrative and organizational tasks, including seeing a case from several perspectives
  • work in a structured manner, plan well and follow up so that tasks are completed to the very end
  • are analytically strong and at the same time have a sense of quality and relevant details
  • communicate clearly, distinctly and in a welcoming manner
  • are relationally strong and create trust and followership among both staff and students.

We also value finding a colleague for whom working with students and naturally taking part in school-related social events is important when hiring our new Head of Education.

Experience in leadership is an advantage, but not a requirement. We see it as a plus if you have a relevant leadership education or are willing to undertake one.

Your tasks

You will have a broad portfolio of tasks, including personnel management, planning and operations, development tasks and teaching:

  • Planning and operational tasks could include one or more of the following: examination planning, timetable assignment, working with the timetable, the basic program for STX, projects and internships on HF or the school’s efforts to reduce absenteeism.
  • Development tasks could include some of the following: EPX preparation, collaboration with 10th grade, collaboration with surrounding schools, bridging, recruitment and external communication, pedagogical development, AI, quality assurance or student activities.

When we have found the right Head of Education, we will distribute the tasks together. The position and task portfolio will naturally develop over time.

Application and recruitment process

The application deadline is Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 12:00. The position is desired to be filled on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Send your application, CV and relevant attachments to [email protected] .

The hiring committee will meet after the application deadline and select candidates for the first round of interviews. If you are invited for an interview, you will hear from us in week 43.

We conduct two interview rounds

  • First interview: Monday, October 26, 2026
  • Second interview: Thursday, October 29, 2026

If you go through to the second interview, a case assignment will be part of the process.

After the first interview, we will obtain two references, and this will in all cases be done after prior agreement with you.
