Head of Facility Management Operations Service – create service experiences and cohesion

Would you like to lead our Facilities Operations, which every day ensures that students, staff and guests encounter attractive facilities and a high level of service at the Copenhagen University College of Professional Higher Education (KP)?

Facilities Operations collaborates across KP's resource area and FM to create attractive campus environments and good user experiences for all students, staff and guests at KP. Together with the unit’s employees, you will ensure safe and sound daily operations and secure physical premises so KP can succeed with its core task: to educate skilled professionals who succeed in practice.

Facilities Operations is undergoing an exciting professional development, where you will work with professional leadership. In the near future, FM will focus on strengthening cross-unit collaboration and implementing a common FM system (NTI). In addition, FM will further develop common workflows and standards that support a professional and cohesive service experience across KP’s campuses. Wellbeing, community and cohesion within the employee group, as well as good collaboration with our suppliers, are also focus areas.

About the job

As head of Facilities Operations you will be responsible for daily leadership and development of a unit that handles a wide range of service and operations activities on KP’s campuses. Facilities Operations supports, for example, daily operations through service to teaching and events, AV support, maintenance, internal logistics, inventory and warehouse management, and coordination of a number of service deliveries such as cleaning, renovation, exterior areas and servicing of shared facilities.

With a team of experienced and dedicated employees you will work to maintain high quality and efficiency in the daily operational tasks while strengthening overview and systematic coordination across buildings and rooms, for the benefit of KP's many users of its excellent campuses.

Your areas of responsibility will include, among others, the following

• motivate and lead team coordinators and employees with different FM competencies and tasks
• support wellbeing, engagement and strengthen cohesion
• drive a deeper implementation of the FM system NTI in close collaboration with colleagues across FM
• ensure high quality and stable operations and contribute to the development of workflows focusing on creating processes with cohesive service
• take an active part in KP’s emergency organization and collaborate with managers and employees across KP on common service, operations and development tasks
• follow up on supplier agreements and ensure the quality of external services
• create an overview of resources, capacity and prioritization of tasks in a daily life with many different stakeholders.

Facilities Operations consists of 35 employees, including 6 team coordinators and a professional coordinator.

About you

You have experience as a people leader of several professional areas and place a high value on being a present and visible leader – also when the locations are different. You have experience with leading service, operations or facility management functions and thrive in the intersection between people, operations and development. You have an understanding of facility management as a field and are motivated to create attractive facilities, well-functioning services and good user experiences.

In addition, we imagine that you

• are curious about new solutions and motivated to develop both employees and workflows
• have knowledge of facility management, including central FM concepts, service deliveries and operating processes
• have experience with or an interest in FM systems and see the value of digitalization, data and system support of operations
• have experience with implementing new systems and workflows, including strengthening emergency preparedness and supply security
• are structured and can create overview in a complex operation
• can translate strategic goals into actions and results in daily work and set direction and follow decisions through
• are collaborative and build strong relationships across FM and the rest of KP
• communicate clearly and inclusively and are able to create ownership with regard to new workflows and changes.

About the management group and Facility Management

You will be part of FM's management group, where you, together with two other managers and a chief, contribute to the development of the entire FM and to realizing KP's ambition to create attractive, well-run and sustainable campus environments.

FM has in recent years undergone a functional reorganization, which has among other things created a higher degree of standardization of the task solution across KP’s campuses. The management group focuses on bridging between units and supporting cross-unit collaboration. Ongoing good communication between units in FM and users of KP’s physical spaces is also a focus.

FM has the task of operating, maintaining and developing KP’s buildings and ensuring well-functioning and representative premises for KP’s students and staff. We currently have about 150,000 m2 distributed across eight locations. FM is organized into four units responsible for Facilities Operations, Building and Technical, Projects and Development, and a staff function that provides management support across FM.

FM, together with HR, Finance, Studies Service as well as Digitalization, IT and Library, makes up the overall Resource Area, and together we service KP’s approx. 20,000 students.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed as head of the Facilities Operations unit in FM with start on 15 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employment and compensation generally follow the agreement on the employment of managers at institutions within teaching, education and research in the Ministry of Education and Research’s area . The position is a permanent position with no fixed maximum working hours.

The workplace is located at Humletorvet 3, 1799 Copenhagen, and with an ambition of visible leadership, you will typically visit KP’s other addresses on Frederiksberg, Nørrebro and in Hillerød within a week.
