About the job

Monthio is looking for a Head of Finance with a strong financial foundation and an interest in working closely with the business. You will have overall responsibility for the finance function and a central role in the company’s development. Perhaps you already lead a finance function, or perhaps you are an experienced Senior Controller or Finance Business Partner ready to take the next step.

Most importantly, you can combine a broad overview with a hands-on approach and thrive with responsibility for both day-to-day operations and the further development of the finance function. Experience from a similar role is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Your role

You will have overall responsibility for financial management, reporting and the ongoing development of Monthio’s finance function. You will join the management team, report to the COO and work closely with the CCO and the rest of management to provide a true and fair picture of the company’s finances and a solid basis for decisions. You will attend board meetings, where you present financial results, expectations and key risks, and you will manage the dialogue with our lender and other external stakeholders.

As the only in-house member of the finance function, you will have a broad role that requires an eye for the whole business and the ability to turn overview into action. Day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll are handled by an external partner. You will manage the partnership, ensure quality and follow up on deliverables. At the same time, you will work hands-on with analyses, models, reporting and processes, and ensure that the finance function supports both daily operations and the company’s growth.

Your responsibilities

Budgets, forecasts and liquidity

  • Drive the budget process and rolling forecasts, and further develop the financial model so that changes in hiring plans, other costs and expected revenue are continuously reflected and provide a basis for adjusting the company’s priorities.
  • Monitor liquidity, cash burn and runway, and make the impact of changes in revenue, costs and investments visible.
  • Explain variances against budget and forecast, and turn analyses and scenarios into concrete recommendations to management.

Reporting and commercial partnering

  • Prepare monthly reporting for management and the board, as well as investor reporting, with clear conclusions on performance, expectations and risks.
  • Prepare board materials together with the COO and the Chairman, and present the key financial points at board meetings.
  • Consolidate the commercial forecast together with the CCO and ensure consistency between pipeline and forecast.

Accounting and financial control

  • Ensure a timely and accurate month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals and quality assurance of the accounts, in collaboration with the external partner.
  • Coordinate the annual report and audit, and ensure follow-up on VAT, tax and other financial filings together with external advisors.
  • Maintain internal controls and approval procedures, handle payments and ensure correct calculation of sales commissions.

Systems and automation

  • Drive improvements in finance systems and workflows based on e-conomic, Pleo, Fenerum and Corpay.
  • Reduce manual work and strengthen data quality through better integrations, automation and relevant use of AI.

Your profile

You master the financial craft, understand the business behind the numbers and take ownership of getting things done. You can challenge assumptions constructively and communicate your conclusions clearly. We value the quality of what you have delivered and your ability to take on broader responsibility.

We imagine that you

  • Hold a relevant degree in finance or business, e.g. cand.merc., cand.merc.aud., HDR or equivalent.
  • Have solid hands-on experience with financial management and reporting, and an understanding of accounting, budgeting, forecasting and liquidity.
  • Have strong analytical skills and can turn complex data into clear insights and concrete recommendations.
  • Work independently and in a structured way, and can prioritise between recurring deliverables and developing the finance function.
  • Communicate confidently in Danish and English and work well with both colleagues and external partners.

Experience with financial management in a company with large enterprise customers is an advantage, especially if you have worked with ARR, accruals and revenue recognition of larger customer contracts. The same applies to experience with board reporting and managing external finance partners. You do not need to have worked with every part of the role beforehand, but you must have the professional foundation and the ability to take overall responsibility and grow in the position.

What Monthio offers

A broad role with direct access to management and the board, and the opportunity to shape both financial management and the way the finance function works. The position combines independent responsibility with close sparring with the COO/CEO and gives you the opportunity to develop as a finance leader in a B2B SaaS company.
