About the job
Are you ready to lead a team of staff, operations and professional development in a complex psychiatric specialty?
We are looking for a functional leader for a maternity cover at the Dual Diagnosis Ward 05 in the Psychiatric Department Vejle. We are looking for you who are motivated by personnel management, have a good knowledge of psychiatry and thrive on creating structure, direction and momentum in a daily life where professionalism, relationships and operations must go hand in hand.
Perhaps you are a nurse with leadership experience. Perhaps you have another health professional or relevant academic background and experience with leadership in psychiatry. The most important is that you want to be a leader – and can see yourself taking responsibility for both the employees, the daily operation and the continued development of the ward.
There will be an opportunity for a handover period, so you get a good introduction to the task and the possibility to take over leadership with insight into the ward, the employee group and the current tasks.
Welcome to a specialty where complexity requires collaboration
Dual Diagnosis Ward 05 is a highly specialized, integrated open/closed acute ward with space for 15 patients. We admit adults with a psychiatric disorder in combination with substance use, who need acute psychiatric care and treatment.
The patients' courses are often complex because mental disorders, substance use and social problems intertwine. This places high demands on the professional effort, collaboration and the ability to create coherence in the treatment.
We work holistically with the patients and start from the premise that psychiatric and substance-related problems must be handled in context. It requires high professional standards, interdisciplinary collaboration and employees who can stand together – even when the tasks are demanding.
As a functional leader you will have a central role in creating the framework for employees to succeed with the task.
Your task: Leadership close to daily life
You will be responsible for staff leadership and the daily operations of the ward. This means you must be able to be close to the employees and maintain an overview of the organizational and operational contexts.
Your main tasks will be to
- Set direction for the employee group. You create clear boundaries, follow up on agreements and support a working environment characterized by trust, dialogue and professional development.
- Ensure a well-functioning daily operation. You work with staffing, planning, prioritization and resource use and can act when operations require adjustments.
- Support professional quality. You contribute to the ward's treatment and workflows developed with regard to patients' needs, professional standards and the department's overall direction.
- Create progress in development tasks. You can translate decisions and ambitions into concrete actions, follow up and ensure tasks are completed.
- Strengthen cross-collaboration. You contribute to a well-functioning collaboration between professional groups and relevant partners around patients' trajectories.
- Be an active part of the management community. You collaborate with the ward's other leadership, departmental management and relevant functions in the staff on operations, quality and development.
We are not looking for a leader who can solve everything alone. We look for a leader who can create overview, ask the right questions, make decisions and bring employees' competencies into play.
Who are you?
We are open to different professional paths into the management task. Your educational background is therefore not the only thing that decides whether you are the right candidate. The essential is that you have solid knowledge of psychiatry and a clear motivation for staff leadership and operations management.
We imagine that you
- Have experience from psychiatry and understand the professional, organizational and human challenges that characterize the area.
- Are eager to take clear leadership responsibility – preferably with leadership experience.
- Can create structure and overview and prioritize between daily operations and the tasks that must ensure development in the long term.
- Communicate openly and clearly and can create following through through dialogue, involvement and clear expectations.
- Have a focus on employees' well-being and professional development and know that a good working environment is a prerequisite for success with the core task.
- Thrive on cross-disciplinary collaboration and can navigate in a daily life where there is a need for planning, flexibility and decisiveness.
You do not need to come with a ready-made toolbox for every leadership challenge. But you must be willing to learn, have the courage to take responsibility and motivation to develop as a leader.
If you have a relevant leadership education, that is an advantage. If you do not yet have one, we would like you to be interested in developing your leadership skills through education and sparring.
What you get with us
You get a leadership task with meaning, responsibility and the opportunity to make a concrete difference for both employees and patients.
We offer
- A central role in leading a specialized psychiatric inpatient ward.
- Opportunity for a handover period with introduction to tasks, workflows and current focus areas.
- A close collaboration with the ward's chief physician.
- Opportunity for sparring and support from the department management and relevant functions in the staff.
- A varied leadership everyday where staff leadership, operations, professionalism and development are closely connected.
- Opportunity to bring your own skills and experiences into play and develop yourself in the leadership role.
We value collaboration, integrity and open dialogue. We believe that clear leadership and good relationships go hand in hand – and that the best solutions are created in collaboration.
