About the job

Do you want to lead a strong authority‑oriented professional unit and at the same time help shape the future in a new section where coherence, rehabilitation and joint solutions are the focal points?

Our current leader, for just over 4 years, has chosen to leave the labor market to take on other projects, and therefore we are seeking her successor. We are looking for a present and clear leader who can continue the strong professional foundation in Visitation and at the same time contribute to the development of our new section.

You will take over the management of a well-functioning visitation with high professionalism, engaged employees and a central role in citizens' encounter with the municipality. At the same time you join an organization that is undergoing development. As of 1 August 2026, Visitation became part of a new section, established through the merger of the two former sections Authority and Health Across. The ambition is to create greater coherence for citizens across authority, aids, health promotion, prevention and training.

We therefore seek a leader who can both ensure strong authority operations and actively contribute to the development of the new section. A leader who stands firm on authority professionalism, but who is also focused on collaboration, relationships and joint solutions across boundaries.

About Visitation

Visitation is a central entry point to Health and Care and solves a wide range of authority tasks under the Social Services Act and the Elderly Act.

Tasks include among other things

  • Citizen phone line with counseling, guidance, screening and visitation.
  • Clarifying processes with citizens, where needs and the person circle are mapped.
  • In-depth visitation and visitation to interventions under the Social Services Act and the Elderly Act.
  • Visitation to nursing homes, elderly- and disability-friendly housing as well as day centers.
  • Discharge processes and coordination of sector crossovers.
  • Visitation for relief and respite, including temporary overnight stays.
  • Specialized authority tasks, cash grants, guardianship cases and similar.

Visitation consists of visitators, administrative staff and a professional coordinator.

The employee group is professionally ambitious, engaged, and accustomed to taking responsibility for both their own tasks and the shared task solution. There is a learning culture with mutual respect and high trust in each other. There is great professional breadth, and the employees are characterized by high independence, strong professionalism and good collegial community.

The position

As the leader you will be responsible for daily operations, professional quality, staff well-being and the continued development of visitation's task solving.

You will also become part of a leadership community that is in the process of creating a common foundation for the new section. We are focused on creating greater coherence between our different professional areas and supporting citizens' opportunities to live an independent life for as long as possible.

Therefore we are looking for a leader who can see themselves as leader for more than their own unit. We want a colleague who naturally contributes to shared solutions, takes co-responsibility for the whole section's development and sees the value in cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The leadership role

Your key tasks will be to

  • ensure high quality and legality in authority work.
  • continue the collaboration on quality development with, among others, the professional coordinator.
  • give direction, overview and prioritization in a complex everyday life.
  • support employees' professional development and job satisfaction.
  • strengthen cross‑section collaboration within your own section, across the rest of Health and Care and with external partners.
  • contribute to the development of the new section and the cross-cutting collaboration interfaces.
  • create a balance between secure operations and necessary development processes.
  • support a strong work community based on trust, dialogue and shared responsibility.

The Elderly Act, health reforms and new forms of collaboration mean that parts of the task are still under development. You must therefore be able to navigate change while creating calm, direction and meaning for the staff.

We are looking for a leader who

  • has leadership experience and ideally experience from a municipal authority area.
  • has solid understanding of public administration and authority work.
  • can create followership through involvement, dialogue and clarity.
  • works in an appreciative and relational leadership style.
  • can bring employees together around a strong common "we".
  • sees the strengths in cross-disciplinary collaboration and joint solutions.
  • can balance consideration for citizens, employees, economy and legislation.
  • communicates clearly and respectfully.
  • is development-oriented without losing focus on operations.
  • has the courage to make decisions and the ability to stand by them.

About you as a leader

We envision that you are a leader who is focused on people and relationships.

You believe that the best solutions are created in collaboration, and you naturally involve employees and partners in developing the task solution. At the same time you manage to set a clear direction, create frameworks and follow up on agreements and decisions.

You see differences as a strength and have the ability to bring people together around a common task and a shared responsibility.

We offer

  • A leadership position of great importance for citizens' meeting with the municipality.
  • A professionally strong and engaged team.
  • Opportunity to influence development of both Visitation and the new section.
  • A strong leadership community with a focus on sparring, collaboration and shared leadership responsibility.
  • An organization with high ambitions for quality, coherence and development.
  • A working environment characterized by trust, dialogue and integrity.

Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement and local pay arrangement.

On Silkeborg Municipality's website you can read more about the municipality's strategic plan, leadership framework and possible job and person profile etc.: "Become a leader with us".

Would you like to help shape direction for a visitation that both delivers high quality in the authority task and is an active partner in the development of the future Health and Care in Silkeborg Municipality?

Then we look forward to hearing from you.
