Head of Nursing – with strong clinical leadership and a vision for the future of elderly care

Do you want to be at the forefront of nursing at a time when the Elderly Care Act, the health reform, and the development of the close health system are changing how we think about nursing and elderly care?

We are seeking a visionary and professionally strong Leader of Nursing, who will help set the direction for the development of nursing in the Center for Health and Care – with a particular focus on clinical leadership and the role of nursing in the fixed interdisciplinary teams.

Nursing is organized in Nursing and Rehabilitation, which includes municipal nursing in home care and on nursing homes, the temporary placements, and day centers. Nursing is led by a department head and two leaders, who together are responsible for the professional and organizational development.

As a leader, you will help create nursing that is professionally strong, coherent, and close to the citizen.

The Elderly Care Act calls for continuity, self-determination, relationships, and holistic pathways. At the same time, the health reform and the development of the close health system mean that more citizens will receive treatment and complex health interventions close to or in their own homes.

That places new demands on organization, competencies, and leadership. The fixed interdisciplinary teams are an important part of this development, and you will play a central role in ensuring that nursing professionalism and competencies are actively used.

You must be able to navigate between operations, professional development, and strategic goals and translate the overarching direction into meaningful practice for the staff.

We believe that strong nursing is created through strong clinical leadership.

You will therefore have a special role in further developing clinical leadership, so that nurses take clear responsibility for clinical assessments and decisions, quality, coordination, and coherence in citizens’ complex trajectories.

You must create frameworks where staff professionalism comes into play, and where there is courage and competence to make professional decisions. At the same time, you must help clarify nursing’s core task and professional position in the overall organization.

You will become part of a close management community with the department head and your leadership colleague in Nursing, as well as other leaders in the Center for Health and Care.

Together you will create a common direction, coherence, and development across nursing and the rest of the center. Your primary area of work will be leading the nurses who work closely with home care. You must stand strong in the leadership of your own area while also seeing yourself as an active part of the overall leadership with responsibility for the whole and the cross-cutting collaboration.

Your main tasks are to

• set professional and strategic direction for nursing
• further develop clinical leadership and clinical decision-making
• ensure high professional quality and patient safety
• create stable and sustainable operations with a focus on citizens, staff, and resources
• undertake personnel management, occupational health and competence development
• support the development of the fixed interdisciplinary teams
• strengthen the coherence between nursing, home care, nursing homes, rehabilitation, and other health interventions
• create frameworks for professional reflection, learning, and development
• translate political and strategic decisions into meaningful practice.

Who are you?

We are looking for a leader who has professional authority, humane influence, and organizational understanding.

You are a trained nurse and have leadership experience. You have a strong professional foundation and can translate it into both daily operations and strategic development.

There will be two rounds of interviews, on November 6, 2026 and November 17, 2026. The second interview will be based on a case.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and according to the principles of local pay formation.

A Category B driving license – ordinary car – is required.
