About the job

Would you like to help make a difference for women, newborns and families across Greenland?

Then you might be the one we are looking for to the Gynecological/Obstetric Department K3 at Queen Ingrids Hospital in Nuuk.

We are seeking new colleagues for permanent positions. The positions are full-time with a 3-shift rotation and weekend duty every other weekend. We use the wish planning system, so you have influence on your own work schedule and the possibility for flexibility in work-life.

We place emphasis on starting from the individual patient’s needs and wishes. You listen actively, meet patients and relatives with respect and presence, and adapt your care and communication to the individual situation. In addition, you are engaged in your work and contribute with a positive and acknowledging approach that creates security and positively affects both patients, relatives and colleagues.

A little about K3

K3 is Greenland’s only specialized department within gynecology and obstetrics. We therefore receive patients from all over the country and handle both planned and acute cases.

Our patient groups include pregnant women, those in the postpartum period, premature newborns from GA 34+0, gynecological patients, breast surgical patients and patients with palliation needs. Patient pathways range from short hospitalizations to longer trajectories.

The department has 10 beds for pregnant and postpartum women, 2 beds for premature children, and 8 beds for gynecological patients, breast surgical patients and palliative patients.

We work closely with the delivery department, the intensive care unit, health services, health centers and regional hospitals across Greenland.

Professional development and collegial support

Our workforce comprises both permanent and temporary staff, and several of our colleagues are bilingual. We also have a permanently employed interpreter attached to the department. We value our diverse experiences and perspectives and are happy to help new colleagues settle in both the department and Greenlandic culture.

We prioritize high professionalism, knowledge sharing and ongoing competence development. Every Tuesday we hold professional meetings focused on improvements and developments, and every month we offer training and other professional activities. The department has a permanently employed midwife with special responsibility for education and professional development.

The department works with assigned patient care, and during daytime shifts a fixed coordinator ensures overview and coherence of the department’s tasks. In addition, we work in pairs so you have a colleague to brainstorm with in daily work. We also prioritize a thorough introduction that takes your experiences and competences into account.

We offer

  • An department with an engaged staff in a wide interdisciplinary environment consisting of nurses, midwives, health care assistants and an interpreter
  • A structured introduction based on your experiences and competences
  • Ongoing professional sparring and good opportunities for competence development through relevant courses and continuing education based on your professional interests, competences and the department’s needs
  • A close collegial community where we help each other in a varied daily life
  • An active staff association

Contribute positively to interdisciplinary collaboration and value professional sparring
