About the job

Hematology outpatient clinic seeks nurses

Hematology outpatient clinic seeks nurses.

We need you in the Hematology Outpatient Clinic because you in particular you are passionate about creating coherence in the different patient pathways. You thrive with the basic nursing care, but also seek a daily life where you primarily use the acute and palliative parts of your profession.

In the outpatient clinic we treat patients with blood, lymphatic and bone marrow cancer as well as benign blood disorders. Since we are a department with a lot of research activity, you will also be involved in delivering the latest treatment to patients who are part of protocolled trials.

Patients are attached to the department for a long time, and therefore we as staff often build a close relationship with patients and their relatives. It is a rewarding relationship that requires something special from you – both professionally and personally. This is, among other things, what makes our work meaningful and means that we come to work every day to seriously ill patients with energy and good humor.

The atmosphere in the department is something our patients often point out that they highly value. It is absolutely essential that you never let go of either patients or relatives until the complete course is arranged, and both patients and relatives are well informed.

The staff is divided into three teams, organized by diagnoses, but they cross over as needed. As a nurse in the Hematology Department you are never alone. Whether you are experienced or newly trained, you will receive a tailored training program so you are well prepared for the task. We ensure thorough introduction and training through a mentorship scheme, individually arranged side-by-side training as well as fixed reflection. But everywhere you will meet colleagues who are keen to teach and also gladly take with them what you bring.

It is important for your overall understanding of patient pathways that you know how things are carried out in the whole department, not only in the outpatient clinic. Therefore we have close collaboration with the inpatient ward, where you work at least 1/3 of your shifts. How these shifts are planned is agreed with your chief nurse. You also work every 4th weekend in the inpatient ward. All chief nurses work across, so you are never without a leader – even when you are out on assignment.

Department X is a very social department, and therefore it will over time be a completely natural part of your work life to work closely with colleagues in the inpatient wards, because we know each other so well across disciplines.

You also get

  • Opportunity for continuing education, where you return to the department after completing your education
  • Plenty of opportunities for specialist roles, as we have several key personnel in areas such as palliation, rehabilitation, sexuality etc.
  • Opportunity to participate in the department's many interdisciplinary working groups
  • An exciting daily life, where you handle chemotherapy, transfusions and other medical treatments
  • A close collaboration with project nurses and project biomedical analysts from our research unit, around patients in protocolised trials
  • A close collaboration with the inpatient ward, where you work min. 1/3 of your shifts. How these shifts are planned is agreed with your chief nurse. You work every 4th weekend in the inpatient ward
  • An interdisciplinary work environment with the patient at the center. We work closely with the department's social worker, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dental hygienist, dietitian and social worker.

If you are already interested and curious, please contact acting chief nurse Majbrit Nielsen at tel.21829061 for more information. You are also very welcome to visit us in the outpatient clinic and have a cup of coffee or tea.
