About the job

At Anæstesi og Operation Syd – OP Syd 2, we are seeking a new colleague for a permanent position as an operating theatre nurse.

Are you an operating theatre nurse or do you dream of becoming one? And do you want both professional challenges and good colleagues? Then we may have the job for you.

The position is essentially 37 hours per week, starting on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Working hours are day shifts (7:30-15:00/16:00/17:00), a few evening shifts (14:45-23:00) and shifts with standby from the on-call room on weekdays and weekends.

You should expect about 4-6 evening/night shifts, as well as 1-2 weekends with planned work during day or shift time over 8 weeks.

With us you will have a daily life with high professionalism, great variety and the opportunity to work with some of the most complex surgical patient pathways, while you become part of a strong collegial community where we help each other and enjoy being together both at work and in other social contexts.

A job with exciting professional challenges – and room for you.

At OP Syd 2 we currently handle daytime mainly lower abdominal and intestinal surgery, but since we have two different robots, we also operate patients from ENT and in 2027 other surgical specialties will come too.

You will, in addition to elective operations, also have acute operations, and we are part of the acute emergency service, which covers trauma calls and works closely with our two neighboring departments (upper GI surgery, as well as gynecology and urinary tract surgery), where we share operating rooms and expertise in shifts.

OP Syd 2 is in an exciting development where tasks and surgical approaches are changing in line with new opportunities for all treatment offerings, but also the robot surgeries, where new specialties and patient pathways must be integrated into the overall organization.

As described, days are rarely the same, and you will have ample opportunity to use your experience and learn new things.

You will become part of a strong team

We are about 45 colleagues of all ages and generations, consisting of operating theatre nurses, anaesthesia nurses and 2 social- and health-care assistants.

We emphasise a working environment where we

  • help each other, we ask each other, we learn from each other and we laugh together
  • have a close interdisciplinary collaboration and care that both the patient and the colleague feel well treated
  • are also a training site for among others anaesthesia course participants, nursing students, HU doctors and paramedics
  • know and prioritise that a good working life is about more than exciting operations.

Therefore we offer among other things

  • individually tailored introductory program and mentoring scheme
  • a daily routine with high professionalism and great variation
  • opportunity for professional and personal development
  • a strong multidisciplinary collaboration
  • focus on the patient and the good patient journey
  • an work environment with humor, presence and genuine interest in one another
  • preferred on-call schedule
  • a strong collegial community – also outside of work.

Maybe you are our new colleague?

We imagine that you

  • are professionally curious and eager to learn new things
  • work in a structured, safe and efficient manner
  • take responsibility and have an eye for quality
  • thrive with complexity and unpredictability
  • contribute actively to a good learning and working environment
  • want to be part of a team where we use each other’s strengths.

But most importantly: We are looking for a colleague who wants to be part of our community.
