About the job

Would you like to work as an hourly-paid employee at Bocenter for young people and adults with special needs? Then we are looking for you now and to help over the winter.

Do you want to spend time on something that matters to others? Then come to us at Bocenter. Maybe it fits with your studies, and you need some practical experience, or perhaps you simply have time to spare and would like to try your hand at the specialized social sector?

So come and use your surplus energy as an hourly-paid employee with us in Nødebo. Who will you work with?

In Nødebo lie the Følstrup houses where 49 residents with permanently reduced physical and mental functioning live. The residents live in smaller departments of 7-20 residents. They live in their own apartments and therefore have the option to join or opt out of the community. The residents you meet in the houses are very different. You will meet residents who sit in a wheelchair, some residents who have difficulty walking and others who move quickly.

Some residents have Down syndrome with dementia, a number of residents fall within the autism spectrum, and this means that we plan the environment and daily life with this in mind.

First and foremost you will collaborate with the residents, who are people with many different special needs. You work with the resident to achieve as much control over their own life as possible and to determine what constitutes quality of life for the individual. To take a ride in a wheelchair down to the lake or in the forest with the others. To look at an iPad with you - or to make a campfire and go home with smoke in your hair and full of sensory impressions and grilled sausages.

As an hourly-paid employee you also have practical tasks. It may be that you have to wash refrigerators, spread lunches or wash clothes – possibly together with the residents. In short, you must be prepared to roll up your sleeves and be an important part of making the practical daily life function.

The care task – receiving help with personal hygiene and care – is important for many of the residents, so you must be able to approach it with empathy and dignity, and be clear about it. Try reading here in the Social Pedagogue how this somewhat taboo topic can be seen as an educational opportunity to create a relationship with the resident; at Bocenter it is a very important part of the core task. It is important that you

  • have a well-developed ability to mentalize and meet the residents with empathy, respect and recognition of their individual personalities and integrity.
  • can see each individual's resources and support them to ensure quality of life.
  • are empathetic, present and listening.

How you will work

We are in the process of expanding our group of hourly-paid employees on the around-the-clock area and linking our substitutes more closely to Bocenter. You will therefore have a fixed attachment to a couple of houses, as it is essential that you and the residents get to know each other well. You will have flexible work, possibly without a fixed number of hours, but you can expect that we will need you regularly. Working hours are between 6:30 – 23:00 and you are paid according to the applicable collective agreement. Is it you?

Your background can be diverse. You may be unskilled, educated pedagogue or PAU, SSA, SSH, or occupational therapist. You can also study one of these subjects. It may also be that you come from a completely different field and would like to try your hand at our world. We also welcome you. Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing to this collaboration with residents and colleagues. Send us a short application or sign up for our Job Bank We offer

  • Two introductory days
  • A full day of training, where you will, among other things, learn medication administration, transfers, and our documentation system

  • Possibility of a flexible work life
