About the job

The Danish Film School is seeking an engaged and academically strong teacher to establish and oversee the subject responsibility for the school's cross-disciplinary common subject: Film Culture and Form Language. A key part of the position is focused on pedagogical knowledge building and the development of the school's common language and concepts.

The Danish Film School is among the world's leading educational institutions in the field of film, TV, and computer games. We educate graduates who can create cinematic narratives with an artistic dimension and a personal expression.

The Danish Film School has initiated an ambitious development process, in which, in the coming years, we will focus on opening the school, strengthening the education programs, and creating strong and broad professional environments. As part of this development, we are seeking a pedagogically strong teacher who can take on the responsibility for the school's cross-disciplinary formation subjects Film Culture and Form Language.

The subject is part of the upcoming new study regulation valid from 2027 and will be the place where the school's common language is practiced, and where the nine programs learn to speak across disciplines and participate in a broader film culture, film history, and form language.

It will also be part of the subject strand to develop a shared pedagogical language for the Film School's teaching and learning.

The position includes, among other things

  • Development of the new subject Film Culture and Form Language.
  • Planning and delivery of the teaching in close collaboration with the teachers on the nine subject strands.
  • Contact with guest lecturers as well as the film and media industry.
  • Development of the subject’s knowledge base, including artistic and pedagogical development activities.
  • Establishment of a common language across the programs, knowledge gathering, and pedagogical development of the Film School's concepts and pedagogy.

You will report professionally to the school's Chief of Research and Education and managerially to the school's rector.

Qualifications

We also place emphasis on the following

  • Experience with teaching and a deep pedagogical understanding.
  • Ability to articulate reflections on artistic processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of both the Danish and international industry.
  • A large network in the industry.
  • Proactive and innovative and able to formulate a vision for the subject area.
  • Good at communicating and collaborating.
  • Structured and good at planning.

The workplace

The Film School is an open and informal workplace where we emphasize a good and welcoming collegial tone in an environment where creativity and artistic professionalism are highly valued. Salary and terms of employment

The position is a part-time role at 18.5 hours per week. The appointment is time-limited for a period of 3 years with the possibility of extension.

The position follows the pay and employment conditions in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Culture, CO10 – the central organization of 2010, and the Film and TV Workers' Association.

The position is desired to be filled by 1 December 2026.
