About the job

Would you like to work broadly with HR – from daily operations and case handling to development of new HR processes? With us you get the opportunity to influence how we support managers and employees at the Defence Academy.

About us

The Defence Academy is the Danish Armed Forces' training institution. We educate the Armed Forces' leaders and work with research, advice and development of knowledge that supports the Armed Forces' tasks. Our schools and programs are located in several places in the country.

In the HR section we are six employees and a section chief. Together we support managers and employees across the Defence Academy with personnel administration, case handling and development of HR processes.

What is special about us is that we work at the intersection between the Armed Forces and a higher education and research institution. Therefore we also encounter HR challenges that do not always fit into a standard template.

We have different professional backgrounds, personalities and ways of solving tasks. We help each other, share our knowledge and speak openly about both the tasks and what can challenge us in everyday life.

About the position

We are in the process of examining our HR processes from top to bottom. Some need to be improved, others developed from scratch. Here you will be part of the work.

At the same time you will have a daily life where operations and case handling form a substantial part. It is precisely the combination of daily HR support and development tasks that characterizes the position.

You will, among other things, work with

  • On- and offboarding, where you help develop and implement our processes for employees and managers
  • Course administration of, among other things, NATO courses and Defence's internal leadership programs
  • Staffing and postings, including school postings at the Defence Academy's schools and single-person deployments
  • Case handling and written briefing documents for management, e.g. case and decision papers
  • HR initiatives and communication, e.g. professional presentations as well as work on well-being and the psychosocial work environment

Your concrete tasks also depend on your experience and competencies. We do not expect you to know it all from day one, and you will have the opportunity to develop in the job and take responsibility for several areas along the way.

You will work closely with the rest of the HR section and the Defence Academy's HR partners, who advise leaders and managers. In terms of well-being you also collaborate with our occupational safety inspector.

Your fixed workplace is Svanemøllens Barracks. As we support units on both Zealand and in Jutland, you should expect a few travel days per year.

About you

You do not need to come with experience in all our areas. The most important thing is that you want to work broadly with HR and can take responsibility for your tasks.

We imagine that you

  • work in a structured way and follow your tasks through to completion
  • take initiative and can drive a task forward on your own
  • thrive with case handling and work thoroughly and systematically
  • write clearly and precisely and can translate a case into an easy-to-understand written product
  • collaborate well with different people and areas of expertise

You have a relevant higher education degree. Knowledge of public administration and case handling – for example from the Armed Forces – is an advantage but not a requirement.

If the Armed Forces are new to you, it is more important that you are curious about the organization and eager to learn our ways of working and frameworks.

Terms of employment

If you are an academic, you are employed under the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (the Academic Agreement).

If you have an office qualification or another relevant education, you are employed under the applicable Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Government Sector (OAO-S Common Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility of negotiating allowances. The position is linked to an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Copenhagen.

As an employee under the Defence Ministry's area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-building, humanitarian and other similar operations.
