About the job

About us The Danish Institute for Human Rights was established by law by the Folketing as Denmark's national human rights institution to promote and protect human rights. We are a self-governing state-funded knowledge organisation that, based on research and analyses, monitors and advises on the human rights situation in Denmark and Greenland.

The role and identity as the national human rights institution is also the starting point for the institute's international work, which through projects and partnerships contributes to realising human rights in the countries we work in.

About the position As a staff lawyer you will be an important sparring partner for managers and HR colleagues on questions of employment law, personnel administration and good administrative practice. You will have a central role in handling both concrete personnel cases and more general legal issues, where you will help translate rules and practice into usable solutions.

The position offers the opportunity to work broadly with employment law in an organization characterised by high professionalism, many different staff groups and close collaboration between HR, managers and other support functions.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will include among other things

  • advice to managers on employment law and personnel law questions
  • preparation of legal assessments, hearings, decisions, notes and other case presentations
  • dialogue with employees, shop stewards and trade unions
  • assistance with interpretation of collective agreements, circulars and personnel policy guidelines
  • contribution to development, quality assurance and ongoing improvement of HR processes, guidelines and practices.

About you We imagine that you

  • have a legal education, e.g., cand.jur.
  • have solid experience with employment law and personnel legal advice, preferably knowledge of public sector collective agreements and rules
  • can handle complex cases with sound legal judgment and consideration for both process and collaboration
  • thrive in an advisory role close to managers and can build trust through professionalism and propriety
  • communicate legal issues clearly and precisely, both orally and in writing
  • work efficiently, structurally and with a focus on quality
  • have a desire to contribute to joint task solving and professional sparring in HR
  • can communicate confidently in Danish and English both orally and in writing, French is an advantage.
  • have knowledge of international employment terms and contracts.

Salary and terms of employment You are employed as a trainee or senior consultant depending on your qualifications and experience, in a fixed-term position for 1 year.

Salary and terms of employment are as agreed in the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state. There will be opportunities to negotiate allowances.

Working hours are on average 37 hours/week. The workplace is Wilders Plads 8K, 1403 Copenhagen K.

We have flexible working hours, and to some extent there will be opportunity to work from home after agreement with the department head.

Application process The position is desired to be filled by 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The application deadline is 18 November, and we expect to conduct interviews in weeks 47 and 48.

Applications with CV, degree certificates and results and any relevant recommendations should be sent via the link on this page. We ask you to submit the mentioned attachments, as they will be included in the assessment.
