Instructors for BMB, SDU

Would you like to teach other students, and are you interested in becoming academically sharper, helping others on their way and contributing positively to your studies? Then you now have the opportunity to become an instructor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB).

BMB seeks several instructors to undertake teaching in group sessions in the programs in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Biomedicine; Biomedical Informatics; Pharmacy and Medicine starting from February 1, 2027.

To be considered for the position you must be enrolled in at least the second year of one of the mentioned programs.

As part of the preparation for the role you will participate in an introductory course for instructors.

The number of teaching hours can vary from semester to semester, and there may be semesters without teaching. Before each semester you will receive a teaching hours notification with information about your teaching hours – provided that courses are established in the subject and that an agreement has been entered between you and the institute.

BMB is part of the University of Southern Denmark and is located on Campus in Odense. The institute consists of more than 200 staff members distributed across five research sections as well as a section for administration and service.

At BMB we take our starting point in natural science and investigate how cells function at the molecular level. We research the basic molecular and biochemical processes underpinning cell growth and development and for cell interactions in healthy organisms and during disease development.

Our research contributes to the important basic understanding of disease development, e.g. within cancer, obesity, diabetes, age-related diseases of the nervous system, as well as life-threatening bacterial infections – knowledge that forms the basis for developing new treatment methods. This work is carried out in close collaboration with doctors and researchers in hospitals or in private companies.

The institute has about 500 students distributed across several different programs. We educate bachelors and masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as in Biomedicine, which is a program oriented towards clinical research in hospitals. In addition, we educate masters in Biomedical Informatics with insight into computer-based methods for handling and analyzing data, which are used in the health sector and in the pharmaceutical industry.

Employment is carried out in accordance with the rules of the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Association of Danish Medical Students for student tutors at the universities with the accompanying protocol (SUL).

Salary is set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the job content, responsibilities and qualification requirements. As an applicant you have the right to information about the starting salary and salary range for the position. This information can be obtained in connection with the recruitment process. SDU does not collect information about applicants' previous salaries.
