About the job

Do you want to help make things happen when someone needs help – and at the same time learn how to process and communicate data with a view to leading and organizing volunteering in practice?

The Red Cross Ready (Røde Kors Parat) is a nationwide help network with more than 9,000 volunteer parat helpers who step in when someone in Denmark needs support.

In the Help Line at the Red Cross's national office in Copenhagen, a team of volunteers and staff who need help is matched with others who want to help – quickly, in a structured and considerate way.

As an intern you will be part of a team that makes things happen – in practice and with data backing you. You will gain insight into how volunteering is organized, how systems and people interact, and how knowledge can be translated into action.

Your tasks

As an intern you will have the opportunity to contribute to operations and develop new knowledge. Your main tasks will be:

  • Coordinate and organize the matching in the Help Line by, together with colleagues and volunteers, talking to people who either need help or want to help as parat helpers. You thereby become an important part of the first link in the help chain and gain experience with direct contact and dialogue in a professional volunteer environment.
  • Collaborate with organizations and Red Cross branches to match volunteers to tasks where extra hands are needed.
  • Carry out an independent knowledge project , where you work with data about Parat's target groups or volunteers – e.g., mapping, evaluation or analysis of new trends. The project is tailored to your learning goals and Parat's needs.

We are looking for you who…

  • are pursuing a higher education – for example in social sciences, communications, organization or humanities – but could also be something completely different,
  • communicate clearly and respectfully with many different people,
  • are interested in how data, collaboration and structure can be used to create social value,
  • can work independently, take initiative and follow tasks through to completion,
  • and want to combine professionalism and engagement in a practical community where volunteering becomes tangible.

Framework for the internship period

  • The period runs from February to the end of June 2027. The exact period will be agreed mutually to fit with your study program.
  • You work 3–5 days per week, depending on your studies. We are flexible regarding schedules and exams.
  • The internship is unpaid, but we provide lunch.
  • You will receive ongoing one-on-one coaching with your internship supervisor and there is an opportunity to participate in internal continuing education and courses if they match your learning goals.
  • There will be evening meetings 1–2 times during the internship period.
  • Workplace: The Red Cross national office, Blegdamsvej 27, 2100 Copenhagen Ø.

Application – we do it a little differently

We believe that skills and motivation can look different in many ways. Therefore we do not ask for a traditional application.

Instead we would like you to

  • Send your CV without a photo, age or indication of gender/gender identity , but very much with concrete descriptions of what you have tried and learned.
  • Answer three questions:
  • What motivates you about working with volunteering and social work?
  • Tell us about a situation where you gained something interesting from using data (quantitative/qualitative/mixed) – alone or with others.
  • What do you hope to learn or become wiser about in an internship with us?

We encourage all qualified applicants to apply – regardless of gender, age, disability, field of study or background. We welcome applicants who can bring new perspectives, experiences and ideas into the team.

Please send your CV and answers to the questions no later than 25 October 2026 by uploading both parts via the link. If you are invited to an interview, you can expect to hear from us on 28 October . We expect to conduct interviews in weeks 44 and 45 .

If you have questions, you are welcome to contact the program manager at Red Cross Ready, Rie Ljungmann, at email [email protected] or phone 5369 4310.
