Medicine 1 at Holbæk Hospital is seeking physicians for introductory positions in internal medicine.

We are a broad internal medicine department that receives and treats all kinds of patients, which means there is an opportunity to learn diagnostics and treatment of most internal medical diseases. At the same time there is an opportunity to focus on one or more of our three specialities: cardiology, nephrology and endocrinology.

Your everyday life on the department

In the Holbæk department you will be part of a large group of training doctors and specialists. During daytime you are attached to two specialty sections for six months each and primarily conduct rounds or be in the outpatient clinic/day hospital. The department has a really good educational environment and handles both pre-graduate education of medical students and post-graduate education of doctors in KBU-, introductory- and main training positions.

We value and prioritize a good multidisciplinary collaboration, characterized by team spirit and mutual respect. You will join a younger on-call team that consists of a shift leader (which may be a KBU doctor) and a mid-shift, who is more experienced and participates in the resuscitation team. You are expected to enter the mid-shift as a doctor in an introductory position.

If you are relatively inexperienced in medicine, you will start as a shift leader, but during your introductory period you will become the mid-shift. It depends on your competences, and we will determine together which on-call team you are placed in. In addition there is a back-up shift that is present until 21:00 (then on call), as well as another specialist who helps with winding down evening rounds. If needed there is the possibility of collaboration with the on-call doctor in Medicine 2.

Furthermore, the hospital has a MAT team on site and 24/7 ITA doctors (front, middle and back shifts) with whom you work closely. There is thus good opportunity for sparring during on-call. On-call work mainly consists of supervision of inpatients. The Emergency Department at Holbæk Hospital has independent medical staffing and writes the primary journal. On-call work is exciting and challenging, and you will encounter almost all medical conditions during your employment.

At the start of your employment there will be accompanying on-calls that introduce you to the tasks.

As an introductory doctor there are good opportunities to apply for organizational positions as union representative and UKYL. There is also good opportunity to participate in research. The department has two professors and a research director on-call, as well as an independent research unit, and Holbæk Hospital has an interdisciplinary research unit.

Holbæk Hospital is an acute hospital and forms part of Copenhagen University Hospital, which is a collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and the Hospitals in Region Zealand and the Capital Region.

Medicine 1

Is a medical department at Holbæk Hospital that provides treatment for internal medical patients, as well as patients in endocrinology, cardiology and nephrology. We have 3 medical ward blocks with a total of about 60 beds. In addition, we have 3 dialysis units, outpatient clinics attached to all cross-specialties including endocrinology outpatient clinics in Næstved and Slagelse, as well as presence at Kalundborg and Nykøbing Sjælland Health Houses.

We are about 40-45 specialists including 2 professors and 30-35 junior doctors distributed across evaluation and KBU doctors, doctors in introductory and main training positions as well as doctors in unclassified positions.

Work organization

We currently work in 2-shift operation, 12-hour shifts, every day of the week with presence from the on-call room. Meeting time 8-15:00 and 15:00-09:00. You should expect about 3-4 evening night shifts per month.
