Introductory positions in internal medicine at the Department of Joint, Spine and Connective Tissue Diseases, Aalborg University Hospital

Position as introductory physician in internal medicine rheumatology no.: 8001-07-01-I-02 and 8001-07-01-I-05 is advertised for occupancy from 1/1 2027 or by agreement.

About the department

Department of Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Diseases conducts diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of patients with arthritis, connective tissue diseases and vasculitis as well as disc- and spine diseases. In our daily clinic we use, among other things, ultrasound diagnostics, joint injections, muscle- and skin biopsies, as well as joint scoring and manual spine examination procedures are given high priority.

Rheumatology is a broad specialty, thus the Department of Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Diseases, Aalborg, offers many outpatient tracks such as arthritis outpatient clinic, biological outpatient clinic, vasculitis and connective tissue outpatient clinic, arthritis urica outpatient clinic, disc outpatient clinic, sports medicine shoulder outpatient clinic as well as a large day unit and an inpatient ward in Hospitalsbyen.

There are good opportunities to participate in research projects.

The department emphasizes good and coherent patient pathways, interdisciplinary collaboration, research and development. In addition, a good collegial environment is highly prioritized. We are actively working to deliver education of younger doctors of the highest quality and have thus received several educational prizes – most recently the Health Authority's prize for the best rheumatology educational department in April 2022 and top score at the latest Inspector visit in 2025.

The work organization in the department supports the education of younger doctors with parallel outpatient clinics in smaller teams, master-apprentice type situations and good conference opportunities. We expect you to actively participate in the well-functioning work community we have at the department, where everyone contributes to development, teaching and education.

When appointed to the Department of Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Diseases you will participate in daytime work in the Rheumatology inpatient ward, daytime clinic and outpatient clinic. In the introductory position you will deal with all facets of rheumatology with both outpatient and inpatient patients, and during the appointment you will acquire basic skills in rheumatology and broad fundamental knowledge within the entire internal medicine field.

There is participation in on-call duties in the medical area. Both ward rounds and on-call duties are in Hospitalsbyen. The outpatient functions will take place on the South Campus. In the second half of the position there will be the possibility of external assignment in Thisted together with a specialist a few days per month.

The position can be applied for by young doctors with approved basic training.
