About the job

About the position and about us

At the Cancer Clinic we work to ensure secure, individualized and well-structured patient pathways. We have a strong focus on professionalism, development, multidisciplinary collaboration and a good working environment.

We are looking for a nurse with a strong nursing professional commitment, clearly reflected in the meeting with patients and relatives. You should have special competencies in communication and relational nursing. At the same time you should be curious about new knowledge and ready to improve yourself in a specialty in constant development. For us it is important that you see opportunities rather than limitations.

Who are we?

The Cancer Clinic is part of the Cancer Department, which also consists of a cancer bed unit and the Palliative Care Unit with an associated clinic and bed unit.

In the Cancer Clinic, which will be your primary workplace, patients come for outpatient medical cancer treatment. Patients' treatment courses vary from a few months to several years, which means that we as nurses follow the patients over a longer period. Therefore we prioritize contact nursing highly and place great emphasis on creating continuity and security for our patients and relatives.

Interdisciplinarity and collegial community

We value interdisciplinary collaboration highly. In the department there are about 35 nurses as well as doctors and secretaries, all working with commitment to create the best possible patient pathways. We also collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and dietitians, where we bring the different professional perspectives into play for the benefit of the patients. It is therefore important that you thrive in a team-oriented environment and see value in both the close collegial community and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Colleagues describe the Cancer Clinic as a department with breadth in both age and experience, a positive atmosphere and a culture characterized by helpfulness and support. Here you are never alone, and everyday life is built on mutual respect, trust in each other’s competencies and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. At the same time, there is a good balance between time and tasks, approachability and a professionally grounded leadership.

We start with the individual patient

In the Cancer Department we start with the individual patient, which is expressed among other things by:

  • Use of patient-reported information (AmbuFlex)
  • Shared decision-making based on the individual patient’s wishes and needs
  • Offer of family conversations for parents and children of cancer patients in collaboration with the Danish Cancer Society
  • Offer of training programs in “Body and Cancer”

Physical framework

The Cancer Clinic has 24 treatment places and a large patient flow. In addition, we have a satellite function in the Health Center in Holstebro, where two nurses handle medical cancer treatment three days a week.

We mainly work during daytime hours. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have extended opening hours until 5:00 PM or 7:30 PM, and you should expect to have one of these late shifts about every other week. As a nurse in the Cancer Clinic you also participate in weekend on-call in the cancer bed unit every 6 weeks.

What we hope you bring

  • You have broad clinical experience, preferably from the cancer field.
  • You have completed or are prepared to complete a course in medical cancer treatment.
  • You have strong communicative and pedagogical skills and can build trusting relationships with patients and relatives.
  • You enjoy working independently and know when to seek sparring with colleagues.
  • You want to contribute to nursing professional development and to the implementation of new initiatives and workflows.
  • You actively participate in professional meetings and training and are curious about new knowledge.
  • You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a safe and supportive collegial community.
  • You meet everyday challenges with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • You are keen to work with the instrumental nursing tasks that accompany medical cancer treatment.
  • You have IT skills at user level.
  • You are prepared to be part of the entire Cancer Department, including taking weekend on-call in the cancer bed unit every 6 weeks.
