Gastroenterology outpatient clinic, Vejle Hospital seeks a nurse

As a nurse in gastroenterology you follow patients from the first day in the outpatient clinic where the diagnosis is made, and through their further progression as chronic patients. About the Gastroenterology Outpatient Department

The Gastroenterology Outpatient Department is part of the Medical Outpatient Department at Vejle Hospital. It is a smaller, specialized area where we combine clinical expertise with research and teaching within gastroenterology. Here you will meet professionalism, warmth and a value set focused on results, integrity, collaboration and excellence. It forms the framework for an inspiring work environment where well-being, professional development and patient focus are in close interplay.

In gastroenterology you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in meaningful work together in a dedicated team, where we lift each other up and celebrate shared successes. You will become part of a well-functioning outpatient department that works side by side with other specialties. Among other things, we collaborate with the rheumatology outpatient department in a joint infusion room, where several of our treatments can be aligned and require the same observations.

As part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of nurses, doctors, social workers and secretaries we share knowledge, prioritise professional sparring and work for a good work environment. The work is based on independence, close cross-disciplinary collaboration and a shared focus on professional quality and security in every patient contact and with relatives.

Professionalism and Competence Development in Focus

As a nurse in the gastroenterology outpatient department you work in an exciting and highly specialized area with complex, chronic patient pathways. You will develop a specialized profile where clinical assessment and relational nursing are integrated.

Your main areas of responsibility include

• Planning, coordinating and conducting diagnostic pathways so that patients experience security and continuity
• Supportive and caring nursing with a focus on information, presence and involvement of both patients and relatives
• Independent patient assessments with teaching and guidance
• Telephone consultations where presence, advice and patient care are in focus
• Administration of medical treatment in the infusion room
• Caring for patients in the endoscopy suite, including gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

Your nursing is central to the patient’s experience of their course in the gastroenterology outpatient department. You help ensure that the patient feels safe, well informed, guided and supported.

The position includes duties in a medical inpatient ward or AVA with two shifts on weekdays per month and every 4th weekend. Here you provide nursing care to admitted medical patients and become part of a strong collegial community where we prioritise collaboration, sparring and a good working environment highly. You work closely with nurses, doctors and other professions about daily care and treatment, with emphasis on helping each other and sharing tasks collectively.
