About the job

Do you want to build solid competences in forensic psychiatry in a safe and learning-oriented environment?

In the Department of Forensic Psychiatry in Region Zealand you, as a junior doctor, get a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in a complex and exciting subspecialty of psychiatry. We offer a closely supervised learning environment where you take responsibility for your own treatment courses and at the same time have access to sparring from experienced specialists.

About the department

The Department of Forensic Psychiatry in Region Zealand comprises

  • Regional Department for Forensic Psychiatry (RAR), consisting of five closed wards with a total of 62 beds. Here we receive patients with psychiatric measures, treatment and placement orders, as well as individuals in custody surrogate or under mental observation.
  • Forensic Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Slagelse (RAS) with about 150 outpatient patients
  • The security ward with 35 beds

We are the only department in Denmark that houses all three security levels in one place – which provides a unique professional breadth. We are seven board-certified psychiatrists and a number of junior doctors.

Relationship-building is the central element of treatment – we work purposefully to create long-term, trusting relationships, prevent coercion and reduce the risk of new criminal behavior. Safety is the foundation of this work.

As a resident you will become an important part of the team and will

  • Participate in ward rounds on inpatient wards or outpatient consultations and manage treatment courses under supervision
  • Prepare reports for authorities
  • Gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a forensic-psychiatric department

We ensure you are well prepared for the task with a five-day introductory program. In addition, we prioritize ongoing competency development and provide room for professional deepening.
