About the job

We are seeking a youth supervision officer, if you have an interest in the area of at-risk children and youth, and you want to be part of a unit in the Danish Prison Service that ensures that children and young people comply with the decision the Juvenile Criminality Board has made? Then here is your chance.

About the job

The Juvenile Criminality Board makes decisions on improvement programs and immediate sanctions for children and young people aged 10-17 who have committed serious offenses or other serious criminal acts.

Activities in the improvement program or the immediate sanction that the board has decided on must in practice be provided and supported by the municipality of the child/youth, but to ensure that the board’s decisions are complied with by all parties, the Youth Supervisory Service has been established.

In practice, when the Juvenile Criminality Board makes a decision, a youth supervisor from the Youth Supervisory Service is appointed to monitor compliance with the decision in two tracks:

A person-centered supervision, where there is monitoring to ensure that the child/youth follows and completes their improvement program and any immediate sanctions.

An organizational supervision, where there is monitoring that the municipality initiates the measures that the decision specifies should be included in the improvement program.

You will become part of the Youth Supervisory Service unit in Næstved, where there are currently 8 employed youth supervisors and an administrative staff member. The Næstved unit covers the Mid and West Zealand Police Districts and the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police Districts.

Your tasks

As a youth supervisor you will

  • monitor that the child/youth complies with the immediate sanction and the improvement program, and that the municipality implements the decided measures
  • maintain ongoing contact with the child/youth and the guardians, including conducting a supervision interview process, during which it is assessed whether the improvement program works as intended
  • maintain close collaboration with the board, the municipality, the police, and with voluntary actors.

Additionally you shall

  • contribute to the Youth Supervisory Service having an effective and uniform follow-up on the Juvenile Criminality Board’s decisions, including making reminders and reporting the child/youth if the decision is not complied with
  • collaborate on cases with the other youth supervisors in the unit
  • your work aligns with the common requirements for guidance, follow-up and documentation applicable in the field.

About you

You have an interest in the area, and you are willing and able to conduct supervision conversations with children and youth in a structured process, and to check that the children/young people comply with the measures set by the Juvenile Criminality Board.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with at-risk children and youth and experience collaborating across authorities.

We expect that you

  • are organized and prepared to collaborate
  • have psychological resilience and thus can frame your tasks for the child/youth, the guardians and the municipalities
  • have good written skills and thrive with a high degree of documentation with focus on meeting deadlines and targets
  • have an eye for collaborating with the other youth supervisors, other local youth supervision units, the district office and relevant authorities outside the Danish Prison Service.

It is necessary that you have a driving license, as you can expect a fair amount of travel related to your duties. The Youth Supervisory Service has a number of shared official cars that can be used for the purpose.
