Kitchen staff member for day care institution on Amager

The integrated institution Sundby Asyl is seeking an engaged and professionally grounded kitchen staff member 27½-30 hours per week. Sundby Asyl houses about 44 children aged 0-6 years. We are a stable staff group in need of a kitchen staff member to cook for children and staff, and to run the kitchen in general.

We are based in a charming house near Amagerbro metro station. Children are divided into a baby group, a toddler group, and a kindergarten group. Our cozy house is spread over three levels, with the kitchen located centrally on the middle level of the house.

The City of Copenhagen has developed an ambitious food and meal strategy for the municipality's children, which we follow. This includes requirements for an organic gold label, working with climate targets, reducing food waste, and preparing climate-friendly and healthy meals based on seasonal produce.

Breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack are served to all children and adults in the house. It is not a requirement, but certainly an advantage if you have previously cooked for children.

You probably have a culinary and/or nutrition education, and/or you work from the principles of being experimental, curious and courageous in flavor, colors and senses.

Because you will work independently, it is important that you are engaged and have an interest in cooking, and can independently compose and plan nutritionally proper menus of high culinary quality, in accordance with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's recommendations, for children aged 0-6 years.

You will prepare and publish meal plans on Aula, as well as handle goods ordering and reception of goods.

You are creative in a kitchen, and enjoy making things from scratch, bring things with a smile, and have the stamina for the children and your colleagues, even when it is busy. Likewise you must independently ensure that the hygiene standards meet the authorities' requirements and perform daily own checks. It is the kitchen staff member who cleans and tidies the kitchen. In other words, you will have responsibility for the entire kitchen, and a great opportunity to influence daily life.

In specially agreed tasks related to traditions, such as Christmas, Easter, Shrovetide etc., it is expected that you can help beyond regular working hours when needed.

Food is pedagogy

We want children to be conscious of what they put in their mouths and where it comes from. The food should help ensure that the children's eating habits are challenged and strengthened. Classrooms and the kitchen work together in the house to involve children in various processes around meals. At Sundby Asyl we have a food pedagogue who supports this work.

Additional information

The job is a permanent position of 27½-30 hours per week and the working hours are between 8:00 and 13:30/14:00 on all weekdays. The job is available from 1/2/27. Salary according to the applicable collective agreement.
