Maternity leave substitute as a cook for the dormitory and the kitchen at Mercantec

Are you one of everyday heroes who takes pride in ensuring good everyday meals for the college's 200 residents? Do you thrive in an active daily life, and are you motivated by working with young people's eating habits and contributing to their daily well-being and development through this? Then you may be our new maternity-leave substitute who can contribute with more than 50,000 healthy meals annually.

At Mercantec you will become part of the college and our production kitchen. Every morning you help create the best start to the day for the students living at the college. You will become a familiar face in everyday life and contribute to an environment where the students feel welcome, met and comfortable around the meals.

At the same time you will be part of a professionally strong kitchen team with a focus on quality, collaboration and good ingredients. Here we produce daily meals for students, course participants and staff across Mercantec's addresses, and you will have the opportunity to apply your culinary skills in a versatile everyday life.

Your tasks

You will play an important role in the daily operation, where your tasks among others will be:

• Preparation and serving of breakfast to students at the college
• Contribute to a good and welcoming atmosphere around meals at the college
• Production of sandwiches, pasta dishes and salads for packed lunches
• Preparation and plating of lunch for students and staff at the site
• Production of lunch for course participants in our restaurant ”Saltbøssen”
• Restocking and support for all functions
• Production of meals for other canteens at Mercantec
• Preparation of dinner in collaboration with colleagues on the evening shift
• Contribute to daily operations and the development of good dining experiences

Who are you?

We imagine that you

• Have experience from a kitchen, canteen, catering or similar
• Preferably have a nutrition-related education such as nutrition assistant, gastronomic or similar
• Have professional pride and an interest in good utilization of all ingredients
• Are service-minded and meet students, course participants and colleagues with a smile
• Can create good relationships and contribute positively to the community
• Have a driver's license for a passenger car (category B) and are comfortable driving a van

We offer a varied working day with a lot of independence, good colleagues and the opportunity to put your skills to use both professionally and personally. You start at 06:00 and are off around 13:30 on weekdays, Fridays 13:00

This is a full-time maternity-leave temporary position, with start as soon as possible, and the temporary position is expected to run for about 12 months from the date of hire with the possibility of extension. Salary and employment terms are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
