At the Psychiatric Center Amager we can offer employment in a dynamic psychiatric department with the patient at the center, in a medical group with a focus on a good working environment, education, professional development and teaching.

There will be an opportunity to become permanently attached to our acute department or one of our inpatient wards depending on interest.

We are looking for a doctor who has completed KBU and preferably an introductory position in psychiatry or another specialty. We would therefore like to hear about your wishes and needs in the work with us, so we can see what you lack and want in order to master the specialty and perhaps in time want to apply for a main training position or introductory position in the specialty. We place great emphasis on preparing doctors with us to apply for main training.

Welcome inside Digevej – description of your coming workplace

As a doctor at PC Amager you will handle on-call work in day/evening/night shifts in an open, non-restricted psychiatric acute reception, as well as conduct ward rounds on the reception, intensive or open ward during the day.

As on-call at PC Amager you are never alone on duty. At PC Amager we have two on-call doctors after 15:30 in the presence together, a specialist in front (SIF) from 15:30 to 20 on weekdays, who is available to provide structured clinical bedside supervision and sparring to/with the on-call doctors regarding inquiries in the emergency department. In addition, there is a 24-hour back-up so there is access to telephone advice and sparring around the clock.

During the on-call, acute medical plans are prepared in collaboration with the SIF on-call/back-up and acute situations are led in collaboration with an experienced prevention instructor from the nursing group. This ensures patient involvement, competence development and prevention of coercion.

In addition, we focus on supervision, teaching and clinical learning at conferences, including presentations and discussions of patients at lunch conferences, and we would like to discuss any courses you wish to pursue to expand your medical competencies. We also would like to discuss the possibility that you may begin basic psychotherapy training.

What tasks will you have?

In addition to evening/night shift work you will have a clinical role in a fixed inpatient ward, where your psychiatric medical competencies can be developed further in conversations. In close cooperation with senior doctors, the head nurse, ambulatory doctors and other training doctors you will be able to handle the following clinical tasks;

• assessment, psychopharmacological treatment and possibly referral to other treatment offers
• treatment of patients with legal measures
• participation in psychoeducation of patients and relatives
• teaching of colleagues and junior doctors
• Possibility to start psychotherapy training

Salary and employment terms

Start date January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

The positions are 1-year fixed-term full-time positions at 37 hours per week. The positions are on-call and you should expect 3 - 4 evening/night shifts per month, including one weekend every month.

You will be employed in accordance with the collective agreement for junior doctors, including the agreement's provisions on working hours with salary placement as Doctor trainee level 1.

The region is a 24-hour service area, and you can, subject to concrete needs, be scheduled for shifts at other times in accordance with the rules in the applicable working time agreement.

About us

Psychiatric Center Amager, Amager Hvidovre Hospital consists of 129 beds organized into nine wards, including an open and intensive reception ward, three open wards, three intensive wards and an elderly psychiatry ward. We meet daily for both morning and noon conferences. Inpatient wards are organized into 3 pillars (an acute pillar, a psychosis pillar and a non-psychosis pillar) to ensure continuity in hospitalization and ongoing professional sparring.

Outpatient treatment is provided in two psychiatric outpatient clinics at Hans Bogbinders Allé and Gl. Kongevej and in the Psychotherapy and Geriatric Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, which is located at Digevej. In addition, we have the OPUS Outpatient Clinic, Psychiatric Street Team and Housing Support Team.

Psychiatric Center Amager is a university hospital with education and teaching activity as well as a Research Unit. The center is classified for training of doctors in all job categories KBU, main training in general medicine and for introductory and main training positions in psychiatry. The center conducts student teaching of medical students in their 10th semester at the University of Copenhagen and has ongoing international exchange of experiences via EFPT, among others.
